I will take a guess and say 60. I know there will be at least 5, because we have signed up with Technicolor for that many, and I'm going crazy to prepare the booths for them.

I will say 49.

Ted, since I already have a THX Broadway frame in Lucite, please select the next in line if I am successful.

As an FYI, there are 19 D-Cinema sites currently in North America

Ted,
Some recent Texas Instruments/DLP literature listed the North American digital screen count at 30.

give or take a few Technicolor Digital Cinema installations

Is the difference of 11 digital screens possibly the "give or take a few Technicolor" installations?

Oh, and that press release indicated "Episode II" would be released on 27 digital screens. Hope I didn't let the cat out of the bag... (Actually, I'll bet the number will increase by May 16...so 27 is not my guess.)

Laurence Hammett commented in an earlier post how it is interesting the digital projection rollout is not taking the Spielberg approach (threats made about not getting a print of "Jurassic Park" if a DTS unit is not installed).

Arm twisting stunts are a terrible way to market any product. But it has to be said there is a major difference between DTS-S/DTS-6 units debut priced at $2500 and $3500 per screen and a digital projection system that costs between $200,000 and $300,000.

On top of that, DTS players as old as 9 years are still useable. Show me a digital projection system that will not be obsolete in 9 years.

45...but 53-1/2 if you include the screens that have to switch to 35mm because the video projection failed.

Being a big fan of Kevin Smith, who is also a huge SW fan. I will have to go with the number 37. yeah, I read that bit about 27, but hopefully there will be a few more by then.

I'm going to be optimistic regarding the digital installations and say at least 150. Something tells me Ted would not have started this thread unless he had something up his sleeve, and I don't think LucasFilm would really be all that proud to say that their movie was released on just 30 screens digitally. George wants more, and I'll bet he gets it.
