I used to be similar to you... go back and look at some of the arguements I had with Guttag over the years... some of them are legendary. I however had a hypertension problem that I was not really aware of... my doc then told me that it was just borderline and not to worry... well he was wrong... almost dead wrong! I ended up getting proper treatment for it thanks to insurance changes and having to go see a new doc. All I can say is that this Doc was really sharp as he literally saved my life just by doing a normal blood panel. The Hypertension had damaged my kidneys slowly over the years... reducing their function very slowly and nothing noticable. The hypertension also made me very edgy and argumentative as you've no doubt seen. My kidneys are only functioning at 30% of normal capacity today but stabilized there for now. Anything at or below about 12% then I'm up for dialysis and or a transplant. It was funny... when they called and the doc told me this I thought they had gotten someone elses test results mixed up with mine... so they tested again and got the same results. So be sure not to let us raise your blood pressure or you might end up like me!! In any event, it shouldn't have been anything to get THAT angry over! This is just dialog, after all. Certainly we have had our disagreements. So what? You must admit though, you bait people with your constant jabs at sensitive areas (constant references to film's immediate demise...or whatever you are down on). A number of people have commented that they miss the commotion and that we should start them up again. I rarely ever get angry and none of our conversations have ever made me angry... it's all been fun at least for me. NOW you have me wondering if you actually became angry??? I appologize of you did. I don't bait people with jabs about film's demise. According to people I have talked to at Kodak it is very definitely heading towards a hard dead end in the not so distant future. That exact future date is unpredictable but it's end is a fact. I was amused when one of the guys from Kodak said that anyone that would think otherwise is a fool. True, the older we get, we must realize that we really need to pay attention to ourselves and do have better self-control of situations that surrounds us. Take it in stride and don't let things get go you - Like my dear sweet mother always tells me when I used to have bad days in my jobs and in this industry, "who cares? On finger on the shift key, one for everything else...I think he was in the 30wpm range! College is what really increased my typing speed...for sure. Working as a bench tech doesn't exactly make use of one's typing abilities but it did develop much more important abilities, extreme patience among them. It wasn't until my TV days that I needed to type again for entries into the log book. I'm somewhere in between a key picker and actually doing real typing. Otherwise apologize for posing an argument that you are no longer willing to support!  |  IP: Logged Mark Gulbrandsen Resident Trollmaster Posts: 16657 From: Music City Registered: Jun 99 posted 09-01-2009 09:27 AM                     WeI'm not going into alot of details, thats for Demetris to do at the right time but I will say the Cinemecanica is certainly alot more servicable then any other D-Cinema projector I've seen and they've eliminated the right angle mirror between lamphouse and integrator input which no doubt ups the light efficiency a bit. One thing I'm not sure that I like though is the use of the standard magnetic IREM rectifier... not that they're bad... I just don't see any way to automatically control the current level as the lamp ages. If I had say a complex of say 16 or 24 of them it would be a constant maintainance chore to keep the light levels constant over the life of the lamps. Now I may be wrong here... perhaps they have a servo motor tied to the control handle... I did not see a picture of the rectifier. I feel they should stick with the switching rectifiers, perhaps IREM or Sanrex. Have yet to see a single switching rectifier in a D-C projector fail except for the older thyristor units used in old CP-2000's. The latter however can be repaired in the field. Many switchers also offer the option of single phase or three phase operation which can be very handy. The sealed light engine is still a needless waste of money and ups the cost initially as well as if the light engine fails because the Efib or Ffib board is also inside it. So if the board fails you have to swap the whole engine out... Mark  |  IP: Logged
