There is no IMB in a Series 1 system. The media block (Dolby cat862) is inside the DSS200 case. The projector has a secure input board ("gore board"), and the two are linked by dual HD-SDI for image data, and through the management network for TLS (encryption key) handshaking.
What exactly is the error message you're getting? I'm guessing that it's one of the following.
"Disconnected" means that the GUI front end software (Show Manager) cannot communicate with the server back end. You'll probably see this after first booting the server, and it should go away within 2-3 minutes of the Show Manager GUI coming up. If it doesn't go away, you could have a corrupt database, and may need to run the unconfig script to reinitialize it.
"Error connecting to media block" means that the Show Manager software can't communicate with the cat862 media block. If you get this error message, the first thing to check is the 1ft Ethernet jumper cable between the data link output and the cat862 input at the back of the server. If that doesn't cure it, you'll need to connect to the cat862 via its USB jack, and use the Dolby media block setup tool to try to figure out what's up with it.
"Error securing connection between show store and projector" means that the server cannot exchange decryption (TLS) certificates with the projector's secure input board, and likely indicates a problem with the management network in your booth. This is also the error you'll see if the server is up, but the projector is powered down (in standby mode or completely powered off). It could also indicate a problem with the gore board in the projector.
In direct answer to your question, one screen that I service has an NC2500 with a DSS200/cat862 running 4.9.0.96: it has been since last August (unless they upgraded to 4.9.1 when it came out without my involvement, which I doubt). They once reported an "error securing connection between Show Store and projector," around Christmas if memory serves me correctly. This was fixed by hard rebooting the server/media block (hard as in pulling the power cords) and projector, and I haven't heard from them since.

quote: David J. Hilsgen ...i do get a error code on the projector of com r but not all the time and then a 862 error on the server when this happens i just pause the server and take the cat 5 out of the rj45 on the projector & put it back in then it works fine..
So the sequence of events is as follows:
1 - Error code on the projector, then 2 - Error message in Show Manager, then 3 - You remove and reseat the ethernet cable linking the projector to the management network switch, the error goes away, and everything works again ... ?
If so, I would be inclined to suspect that ethernet connection first. If it were me, I'd try removing the cable between the projector and the management network switch, throw it in the trash, clean the jacks at either end with a soft artist's paintbrush or a Datavac with the thin nozzle (not canned air, because the butane propellant could damage the pins), and then install a new cable. Check that the new cable is properly strain relieved at both ends, and has no tight turns.
I don't think you have anything very seriously wrong (e.g. the gore board or the cat862 is FUBAR), because if you did, pulling and reseating the net cable wouldn't get you back up and running.
