At Century most items are rounded to the quarter... but there are a few things that are odd - like bottled water is $2.95 and some things are still weird. I think they used to just pile tax on top of whatever their price was... now though the tax is included in the posted price.

At Cinema West everything was a nice quarter increment only because we didn't want to force our managers to keep nickles, dimes and pennies in the safe. It was hard enough to get them to balance the safe with just quarters in there - adding smaller change woulda been horrible. (It was bad enough getting managers to DEPOSIT loose change and not throw it in a 'slush-fund' in their desk drawers)

But at Century - they have Bulk Candy -- so they're dealing with odd pennies and nickles often anyway -- so it's not as painful to use nickles and dimes.

North American Cinemas here in Santa Rosa just went from Tax Included in the price to "Plus Tax". Now the manager has to stock Pennies, Dimes and Nickels. I am sure that the effort isn't worth the 7% increase in revenue.
