This is true...but Smithtown, NEW YORK, is pretty much right next to Holtsville, NEW YORK, which is where my parents live, as well as me, over the summer. I go to school in Worcester, MASSACHUSETTS [Wink]

That Blackstone Valley theater is a pretty nice one though.

This certainly points out the utter stupidity of putting the blue rating band at the END of the movie (not that I would want it at the front end either).

And doesn't the TITLE come up before the woman chained to the bed and having a still birth? These yo-yos didn't recognize that they were watching the wrong movie from the get-go? So the little tykes got to see a naked women? I guess they will be scarred for life....lawsuit city, here we come!

I made this mistake on a midnight showing in which The Mask of Zorro was started in place of whatever was to run in that particular block. The woman who alerted us laughed hysterically while she explained what had happened. I sure she was high or drunk or both.

Now, how the hell am I supposed to know you are from New York when your profile indicates you're from Massachusetts???!!! Maybe instead of writing that you are "geography-challenged" I should've wrote that you were "effective communication-challenged"! [Smile]

Next time, try: "Hey, that theatre's near where my parents live." BTW, my step-dad and his side of the family are from Worcester, and you can bet being from the west coast that I do not pronounce "Worcester" that same as the locals do!

Damn. Somebody had more beers than I did on a Saturday night! And it's not even near closing time as I right this. It does seem like that "angry drunk" thing coming on. I should know. I've fired off some posts with some alcohol inspiration behind them!

I'm kind of amazed that someone would go to the trouble of double-checking info in a poster's profile. Mike, maybe you need to be a private detective or something. Me, I wouldn't have given two shits.

Angry drunk? Not at all. I used a smiley. Had the Angels lost their game tonight I might've been in angry drunk mode and popped in the middle finger!

And, for the record, the "profile" I was referring to was the location ID underneath the guy's photo to the left of the text box. You know, the area where you can find out who's from Cootville or who lives West of Dallas or South of Heaven or wherever.

I used to color-code my projector boards and my masking tape print labels on any projector on which we had to double-up...Fat lot of good it did. Mistakes still happened. Once, it was my fault. And yes, your average audience is thick enough not to realize something is amiss until the actual movie starts, even when you're playing trailers for Saw II before Chicken Little.

Why on earth didn't some parent get out and comment about the trailers that were playing and were they really appropriate for "Mimzy"? Someone probably figured someone else would say something.

I'm not sure about the Law over there in NY, but here in CA someone who wanted to sue would have to prove intent. That is they would have to prove that this was done ON PURPOSE in order to have any chance of getting a dime.

The main problem is that 9 out of 10 of todays child projectionists don't have any brains at all... Give em one or two platter brains and they have to try to stop and think... that in itself is VERY dangerous. These kids parents are even scarier than the kids! Also, most chains prerequisite to being hired is that you can't think, only the management can do that.

One of my seasoned ub's did that in early 93, and it was the first trailer that caught his attention, and he stopped the show before I suffered a fate worse than death.( Irate parents.)
The show he intended to run was Aladdin. He threads and starts the program. The first trailer shows Demi Moore in her underwear rolling around in some cash on top of her bed. The ub wonders "Who put the Indecent Proposal trailer in front of Aladdin?" He looked at the title tape on the end of the print and realized he threaded "Leprechaun" by mistake.
Had he not caught it, some kids would be asking "Why does the leprechaun like shoes so much, mommy?"

The "one brain" rule always worked for us. The only time I ran into a misthread was when a projectionist was fired one night and the genius manager allowed them to go to the booth alone. It took us more than 20 minutes the next morning to swap the tails back to the correct prints.

I worked for National Amusments back in '95. With the press that this story is getting - I am sure a manager at that location is now out of a job. By manager - I mean the person who threaded the wrong movie.

The fact is: this happens quite often. These stories don't usually get this kind of press. No one to blame except the person who made the mistake.

Everyone does make mistakes. However - when you mis-threaded last time - did it go up on the AP - or national newswire?
