Iron Man at $50,500,000 on 4111 screens, average $12,284 Speed Racer at $20,210,000 on 3606 screens, average $5,604 What Happens in Vegas at $20,000,000 on 3215 screens, average $6,220 Final Studio Numbers later today or tomorrow because it's SOOO chose. In Hollywood math formulas For those interested in International numbers, "Speed Racer" came in Third Place with around $12.8 Million in 30 countries. "Iron Man" did around $39 Million in it's second week International. "What Happened in Vegas" is estimated at $23 Million in 36 countries. It's one thing for Iron Man to see a 50% drop from an opening weekend gross of just over $100 million (not too bad a situation). IMHO, it would be worse for Speed Racer to give up the same 50% drop, going from $18.5 million to $9.25 million the next weekend. If the movie does that it may not be able to stay in theaters through the end of the month. By Week 3 it will have 1 screen per plex instead of multiple screens. At some locations it will be matinees only in Week 3. By Week 4 it will be matinees only no matter where. By Week 5 it will be at the dollar theaters. So much attention to Speed Racer.....'s low grosses. Talking about sub-run already. DVD releases too! I am asking, has there never been a movie that grossed under 20 million in its first week? If every theatre expected every movie to gross 20+ million in the first week of May, maybe they are in the wrong business. I don't see anyone pointing that out yet! Speed Racer is a movie just like every other movie. So it didn't make 20 mil on the break. BFD!!! For what it cost them to make it, this is a huge BOMB! Iron Man did 50 mil its second weekend and will most likley do 20-30 again this weekend. WHAT could possibly be in THAT movie that dictates a long running time?
