It would be nice to hear the other side of the story.
Maybe the woman at the distributor side had a bad day.
Or some other bigger problems.

Has it never happen to you girls and boys that you have an big issue at hand and that you 'talk' a bit hard to somebody at the phone. Afterwards you often think that it wasn't his or her fault and you should not have been like that.

Sorry but you are wrong. (Sheesh I feel like I'm taking over for Tony Bandiera here.) At least Melanie opens on Thursday, so if she runs into a problem with no QC time she can at least get a new hard drive delivered on Friday, and only lose one weeknight's shows.

If we, here in Forsyth Montana, have a bad hard drive we are completely screwed for the whole weekend if we have an unexpected weird problem and didn't get a QC day on Thursday. That's because we open movies on Friday, and we don't have Saturday UPS or Fed-Ex delivery here, and while there IS a digital theater 45 miles from here, the chances are pretty good they're playing a different movie than we are.

Sometimes there isn't another digital theater within 46 miles, did you ever think of that? It's at least 150 or more miles from here to the next nearest place where we MIGHT be able to borrow a hard drive IF they are playing the movie we need.

Wouldn't it be much better for the studio to do the right thing and allow a QC day rather than an exhibitor have to spend gas and driving time to get something he should have had in the first place?

Admittedly the chances of weird stuff happening are very very low. (We've only had the one problem in 2 years and at least 150 movies.) But when there is such an insanely-simple way of preventing such a problem, why in the world should the studio not do it?

I don't know why you're so firmly on the side of the studio on this issue. Maybe you just have a Tom-Petrovian complex about admitting you are wrong.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who KNOWS Edward is WRONG. I was staying out of this for a while becuse Edward's trolling was becoming really annoying, and it's better to let a fool show his hand without any help.

Okay, Mike, you got me on that one. I acquiesce. But I am not firmly on the side of the studio on this issue. I am on the side of common sense, and seeing all available options. Melanie has more options than you when it comes to dealing with the possibility of a bad drive, just as I have more options than Melanie, just as a theatre operator in Los Angeles or New York has more options than I.

And the differences between Tom and I is that I am at least occasionally correct (even Tony can admit to that [Big Grin]

) and that I can occasionally admit defeat.

Don't hurt yourself too much patting your own back, Tony.

A difference of opinions doesn't mean one side is "right" and one side is "wrong." Unless, of course, we want to get back in to how wrong you were about digital for so many years...

I know I have ...

I've had to email her several times since then, which is odd because I don't have to talk with her very often, and she's been great. Like I said, I can handle crazy women. It's rarely about you. And being the mom of two small, willful children, I know all too well how easy is it to fly off the handle and then feel bad about it later.
