Do You have any idea, if this is still available - and where ? -And remember how expensive ?? All those top-actors in one film - it's a beauty. I've never had luck finding it for sale in 35 or 16. A complete 8 mm print, i didn't even dreamt of excisting, and the only time it has been to buy in Denmark on VHS, it showed up to be with dutch subtitles...! I can't tell you how many times I rented 16mm prints of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and the 1950s "Invaders From Mars." Those were my favorites back then. Other kids used to come over to watch movies all the time...or so I thought. I later learned that my movie events were make-out opportunities! I was the last to know. Despite the fact that I hated the film, I really enjoyed running STAR WARS: EPISODE I -- THE PHANTOM MENACE at 12:01am on its opening day. It was a full house of die-hard fans and I had just re-installed the DTS system which had been taken out of service some time earlier...I forget why. The crowd went wild when the DTS logo trailer hit the screen. And again when the theme music started up. That's unheard-of in these parts. It was like I was back in L.A. or something...a great moment that I won't soon forget. Too bad about the movie, though.  |  IP: Logged Michael Schaffer "Where is the Boardwalk Hotel?" People in costumes, applause and cheering etc. However I was upstairs in the booth with tears in my eyes. We had watched the first reel in the afternoon when the print had been delivered. Despite some of the annoying features of the "Special Edition", it was very fascinating for me to play those movies. Having them in the theater again after many years of screen absence was very good. I resent the fact that none of the original Star Wars series are available for booking at this time.  |  IP: Logged Jeffry L. I have run it in 16mm, 35mm mono, 35mm SVA, 70mm (with CINERAMA credit), and 70mm (with "In 70mm" credit). The 1980's reissue of Oklahoma was quite thrilling to run in 70mm at 30fps. I was actually nervous of something going wrong. Must have checked the projector 20+ times in the remaining 5 minutes to showtime. We had two prints (at a 5-plex), and one of them was interlocked for the 9:30 show. I was pretty nervous in the booth with three sold-out houses and an old interlock setup that only gets used once or twice per year, but it was fun, too, even though it was lacking some of the "magic" that Episode I had on its opening weekend. Jaws. Still have it. They were so loud that they distorted the mic. We had a faded print in 70MM and we ran it. WOW, That print still sounded great. Showed it 1st run in the spring of '72 while covering a vacation at the Varsity and then again at the Southwood that summer. Ran a really nice print of it last year at the Paramount. It will be playing again here in a couple of weeks at the Marble Theater in Marble Falls, TX. A small multiplex opened in that town and the Marble can't get product any more. So, THE LAST PICTURE SHOW will be the last film. The owner said that Columbia said that print is getting a lot of use here lately under the same conditions...the closing act for a small town theater.
