Better watch out for them REAL GUNS! I don't know about other states, but check the fine print in the Texas code for carrying concealed firearms. In there you will find a certain lengthy code that must be placed at EVERY entrance and exit in the building and with 90% contrasting lettering measuring a minimum of 1 inch tall. What that means in plain English is that any theater that does not have MASSIVE (and I do mean absolutely HUGE) signs that are basically black lettering on a white background (or vice versa) at every possible entrance to the theater building can NOT legally prevent anyone with a concealed handgun license from entering the premesis with gun loaded, chambered and extra magazines in their pocket. Those little sickers that go on the entrance doors that are about 6 inches tall that say "no firearms", according to the law doesn't mean shit. So how many Texans have ever seen such a sign on a business establishment? Generic "no guns allowed" signs sure, but for it to mean anything legally that sign would end up being something like 3 by 3 feet big at minimum state regulation. If a place of business doesn't meet those regulations, the company doesn't have a leg to stand on and is only providing a false sense of security. (Even if it is only one frame.) Sometimes I enjoyed seeing the "Twizzlers lips", as I called them, even more than the actual movie itself! I always laughed at the "Quiet please" part, where the other set of lips went "Wah wah wah" like the teacher on Charlie Brown cartoons. Well, I'll quit rambling now, It was just so cool seeing these! I thought I'd never see them again! (I wish Regal would let the UA branded theaters run these again. I prefer them to the rollercoaster!)  |  IP: Logged Scott D. Those of you with collections of old policy trailers... if you're worried that nobody will appreciate them other than you should something tragic befall you... don't worry. Onscreen clown grabs a bannana cream pie and whings it at the offending corner, the camera does a quick 180 to follow the pie right into the face of an actress who has just taken the phone out of her pocket and put it to her ear. Super: "Please turn off cell-phones and pagers." For the non-family-oriented films: Action Flick with Stallone or look-a-like. Cell phone rings in the same corner of the audience. It has been years since I saw that UA policy trailer! And I had forgotten it was the HAT talking in the Charlie Brown teacher's voice... I noticed that Regal trailer had Pepsi cups, and the one now has Coke (at least in my area). Did they switch chain-wide, or do they sell Coke only in my corner of the world? All the Regal locations here are former UA or Edwards theaters, so they've always had Coke. I seem to recall the Edwards 21 in Fresno running an Edwards policy trailer when it opened, but I cannot for the life of me remember a thing about it. He sent it to me a while back and I just stuck it on some web space I had. The Regal trailer is one off of their website back when they were Pepsi, and back before they were Regal Entertainment Group... *sigh* those were the days... The one with the computer generated cartoon soda, candy and popcorn characters dancing to the jazz band was pleasantly colorful. The clip ends with the characters waving to the audience. One of the characters gets his face caught in the screen as it zooms to black. Just a simple white projector outline with turning reels and balls coming out of the lens and turning into the GCC name and "previews" or "Feature attraction", all against a red kalaidescopic background. I believe this was updated in 1980 with a more musical version of the same theme. At home, I have Webtv and it was no go. At work, I tried playing that one one computer and Windows Media player opened, but I got an error message. I tried a second computer, and it played fine. I suspect the second computer had whatever software was necessary to play movies in that format. (Sorry I can't be of more help than that!)  |  IP: Logged
