Ridiculous use of liquid nitrogen in Vertical Limit? I musta missed that part...

I just remember the big dramatic climax where they salvage the water bottle from the body of some long-dead dude in a cave in a glacier - a glacier is solid ice, right? - and then open the damn water bottle and drink some LIQUID water???

How do they manage such inanity? Go ahead and invent some secret juice you shoot up to stay alive in high altitudes - I can accept that - but magic water that doesn't freeze after a year in a fricking ice cave?

The top 5 films I've just had to walk out on and hope for the best are...

#5. Mrs. Parker & The Vicious Circle - Will somebody please get Jennifer Jason Leigh a dialect coach for her next movie?!!!! AAAAAGH!
#4. Vanya On 42nd Street - I did not get 2 minutes into that movie before I wanted to punch everyone involved with the production, everyone who may have inspired the people involved with the production, the director's mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunts, nephews, neices.... GET A TRIPOD!!!
#3. Virtuosity.
#2. Congo.

And although I have never been paid to sit through it, but I know someday I will during it's restored director's cut or something. I just cannot get past the first 20 minutes of, no matter how many times I've tried, no matter how open-minded I've tried to be, no matter how much I tell myself it's supposed to be one of the best movies ever made, no matter how much those stupid kids bug the crap outta me...well that's the problem right there. I cannot stand the obnoxious, smart-alecky children in...

#1 E.T. - Maybe it gets better after 20 minutes. I do not think I will live long enough to find out.

And I'd just like to add these 3 genres...

I agree that ET is a bad movie. Not necessarily because of the kids, but it is just boring. I also though Close Encounters of the Third Kind was a bad movie. It is also very boring. What everyone sees in these movies is beyond me. I really don't care to find out since I don't care about these movies.

I haven't seen this one mentioned, "Waiting To Exhale". A chick flick and a boring one at that.

I don't have many memories of "Armageddon". It was so preposterous I fell asleep during the first reel. I never have wanted to go back to see what I missed.

should have been one of the ones to go into both of the space ships at the end of the movies. Perhaps he would have had some tests similar to those done on the X-Files people. When they drill into :joe; 's head and all the filmguard leaks out.......Anyway you wouldn't want to be there for dinner......stick with Rachel's hamster, you're better off.

Imax's "The Nutcracker"
I got to sit through it a few times when I was visiting Gord. Gord told me that after 300 runs of it he had to go in for therapy!

I thought Revolution was a waste of 70mm print stock.

And I liked the short version of Guccione's Caligula better than the long version.

Then there's Leonard Part 6.

Out of Africa.
I could stare at one postcard of Africa for a few hours and get the same effect. Nothing moves, nothing happens. Pretty trees though.

I could barely make a 1/2 hour TV show out of this crap, why is it THREE HOURS LONG???

Any Dogme movie, any "handheld camera for a realistic/gritty look" movie - hey pal, if I want to get seasick I can watch my brother's vacation videos.
We have steadicam now, folks! Lose the nauseating stuff! (Unless it's about someone with palsy, even a POV shot should be STEADY)

Speaking of Africa ...

I DREAMED OF AFRICA.

Played it for one week, then for the second week (to fulfill the two-week contract), it only showed at 10:15pm. Kind of amusing, considering the only people that went to that movie anyway were old women ... and they don't go to a movie at 10;15pm.

Freddy Got Fingered.

The worst part about it was me & another projectionist went to see it at 11pm on our day off, and got there to find 2 theaters full of employees and guests who were waiting to see it, and lo and behold: for some reason neither of the prints had been put together that day! So we had to run up to the booth and assemble the prints at light speed, only to go down to the theater, kick up our feet...and come to the swift realization that it was the worst movie we've ever seen. We left halfway through.

The only other movie I've ever walked out on in my entire life was "Spaced Invaders"

Mine was the Japanese Opera "Othello" back in the late 1960's.

There were abunch of others when I was running as relief projectionist in some porno houses. You see one, you have seen them all. [puke]

My worst experiences while being paid to watch a movie were "Supernova" (only thing good about that movie was the special effects used for their faster-than-light-travel), Jackie Chan's "Twin Dragons" (think that was the title, where he plays two brothers, one a hoodlum and the other a musician), definitely agree with "I Dreamed of Africa", and "Queen of the Damned" (such a rape of the original stories by Anne Rice).
