I think there is an uncorrected error in the actual Movie Quote Contest thread. Dave Williams posted the quote, "this can't be happening; it only thinks its happening." Another poster credited the film quote as being from "War Games". Not so. The quote is from "Tron."

Can someone please pull out a tape of War Games and check that quote? I do remember that quote or something very similar to it. The actual quote did come from Repo Man, but if the War Games quote is close, we'll let it go.

How come Dave posted a quote and then answered it 4 hours later? I'm confused?!?! Am I missing something?

Check "Tron" (a movie which preceded both "Repo Man" and "War Games"). The first thing Jeff Bridges says when he gets zapped into the digital world by the MCP is the exact quote Dave Williams mentioned.

The actual quote is two words more than I posted.. I missed "OH MAN" which comes right before what I said. SO in practice I did not get the quote exact. I do remember war games having a similar quote.

Also, rachel, where did I answer my qoute four hours later? I can't find that.

So you agree its "Tron," right?

Steve Lisberger talks a little about the significance of Jeff Bridge's quote "this can't be happening, IT only thinks its happening." Kind of an usual use of a personal pronoun.

My qoute was from tron, and not from war games, however, until I get confirmation that the qoute was not also from war games, I will not cry foul just yet. I am off to the library to check out a copy and will post back in about four hours if no one beats me to it.

Ok, I have a question. What if you successfully stump the rest of the members, which means you have to post the next quote, but you can't think of another one to post?

Also, can you use a two or three line conversation between two different characters, or can your quote only be from one character?

Ok ok, I'll watch War Games, I'm starting it right now.

Sorry Dave, for some reason I looked at the Magnolia quote and thought it was you. My bad.

The quote, what ever it actually is, in WARGAMES would be towards the end when James Woods enters the WAR ROOM and looks at the screens and then makes his statement. I can't remember the exact words though.
