My 20 favorites in no particular order:1.The Limey: i loved the editing and terence stamp rocks 2.Leon: The Proffessional(international version): great cast, gary oldman perfect villian 3.True Romance: the cast says it all : brad pitt, christain slater, gary oldman, val kilmer, chris penn, tom sizemore, samuel jackson, christopher walken, patricia arquette,dennis hopper,james gandolfini 4.Superman: The Movie: a man who can fly, how great is that 5.Superman II: a great sequal, perfect comic book movie 6.Nija Scroll: great animation, complex story 7.A River Run Threw It: great cinematography and narration 8.Quiz Show: good cast 9.The Graduate: hoffman and ross 10.Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kidd: first movie with redford and newman 11.The Sting: loved the cast, great script 12.Jaws: great cast, good script 13.M*A*S*H: gave way to the greatet t.v show ever 14.Harvey (1950): jimmy stewart, loved it, black and white 15.The Longest Day: good WWII movie, 3 different directors 16.The Great Escape: a good cast of americans stars and brittish stars 17.Me,Myself and Irene: a very funny movie 18.Excalibur: loved the sword fighting and armor 19.No Escape: ray liotta good actor and movie, 20.Boondock Saints: good acting, an interesting way of looking at a crimescene after it happened

Michael,
It's true that STAR WARS changed movies. Good or bad, it established a new set of audience expectations. What EMPIRE did was take all of those expectations, along with all of those associated with being a sequel, and throw them out the window. It's almost as if they sat down and said, "Hmm... What does the audience think they're going to see? OK, then let's do the exact opposite."Because of this, I think that it's far more original than STAR WARS. Yeah, the characters and space ships are all the same, but that's not what makes it great. What's so wonderful about it is that Leia falls in love Han instead of Luke, Luke's reason for becoming a Jedi is completely shattered, and most importantly, the bad guys win. I just love the idea of all the little kids getting all excited to see this movie and then being totally crushed by it. That's just so cool.

Sorry MichaelI have corrected the omissions and added your selection. I might add how refreshing it was to go through the votes and not see a single vote for Moulin Rouge! It just confirms my suspicions that the film was not as good as many were making out.   Some select quotes from the Moulin Rouge thread "...there has never been a movie like this one!" "I believe this will become the "Citizen Kane" of movie musicals..." "This is one of those films that I would see again and again!..." "I can honestly say that there was not one thing about this film that I did not like. If it does not win at the Oscars I will be very disapointed. This one's a keeper..." In a few years this will be rediscovered and considered a golden treasure, like Blade Runner..." "Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I believe Moulin Rouge to be one of the best movies I have ever seen..." "Moulin Rouge is definately going on my DVD shelf (of DVDs I steal from Blockbuster)..." Ho hum, yes sure guys. But nobody voted for it! Even 'The Dish' got more votes and that's saying something!
