This would have been much easier if the list was 50 best films ever made. I am having a hard time pegging the BEST films EVER made here, so instead I am posting a list of 20 films that are not only excellent, but can withstand REPEATED viewings. Seriously, how many times can you sit and watch Gone With the Wind or Lawrence of Arabia? Sure they are great films and "classics", but if a film cannot withstand countless repeated viewings it doesn't make my list.

Bushwhacked

This list may not be the same list I would put together next week, for I have probably forgot about a few that I would rate higher, but it's a close approximation. Oh darn, I listed 21 there. I guess we'll have to cross off Bushwhacked! (Yes, I am kidding about putting that on there.)

*Minus the 10 minute silent montage in the last reel with that godawful “doobey doobey do” music that never ends...the only flaw in the movie.

Here I go......and not in any particuluar order, just MY 21 favorite. Thats right, I'm sneaking in an extra one here. I can watch any of these repeatedly! LOA is only to be seen the way it was shot...in 70mm on a big screen, no other way! I've seen it 9 times! Other favorites: Oh Brother Where Art Thou, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, 2001:A Space Odyssey, Fargo, Hollywood Confidential, Maltese Falcon, Alien, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Shawshank Redemption, way too many others...

6. Blues Brothers: "Its got cop shocks, cop suspension, and
runs on regular gas", This film never runs out of gas!

7. Baraka: Mezmerizing, and unforgettable

9. How The West Was Won: (Amazing on a real Cinerama Strip Screen!)

10. Unforgiven: That bad ass Gene Hackman...

11. Sound Of Music: Todd-AO impressed the heck out of me at age 7

12.Titfield Thunderbolt: When I retire I want to move to Titfield!

13. The Searchers: The best John Wayne film. Best VistaVision.

14. Airplane: "Ham on 5, Hold the Mayo" Funniest film ever.

15. The Hustler: Best B&W Cinemascope, Gleason is amazing.

16. Citizen Kane: The film of all films.

17. Men In Black: Calling Dr. Fine, Dr Howard, Dr.Fine......

18. Way Out West: Pure, polished Laurel And Hardy.

19. Music Man: Best musical ever made, Best Technirama film.

20. The Bank Dick: "Thats Egbert Souseeee, accent drob over the e"

21. Bridge On The River Kwai: Alec Guiness's best performance.

15. Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines

There are many more I could list, but this is enough. Notice I left off Citizen Kane, and Star Wars? I can quote MUCH of the dialogue from each of them.
