I used to run a drive in upstate NY and I would always have the janitor use a pair of gloves to clean the lot. I had a Tuesday special and one Tuesday I had some girls set up a tent in the back of the lot and go into business for themselves. I had the off duty sheriff shut them down they were most likely making more money than I did that night. I also had a couple that came in once a week and were engaged at the drive in. The drive in was the Marcy Drive In and the following year they introduced me to their daughter Marcy. [sex]

Money seems to be a slightly common thing here... About 20 years ago, two ushers found a briefcase with over $10,000 in it. They had only counted it that far, when a guy called on the phone about two hours after the show, correctly identifying the case and the theater it was in, saying he'd forgot it. The ushers (both about 20 years old at the time) were of course hoping no one would claim it, and had finally started counting it, but were honest and said they had it. The guy said he was very happy, and would give them a reward. He arrived, took the case, and gave them a tightly compressed, crumpled-up ball of bills. He then left quickly. Their reward was $23 in singles.

In a drive-in, we found some condoms glued to the speaker poles. The owner told me to remove them. My reply was "In a Pig's butt, I will.." That was the best and most pleasent way I could say NO, and have him understand that word.

He got mad at me, and removed them himself.... [Big Grin]

To stop it from having little bananas, perhaps? Or maybe it was someone's entry for the Turner Prize?

When we were given the obligatory condom demonstration during the sex education lesson in high school, the 'prop' used was a cricket stump. Talk about a sticky wicket...

I was going to post in this topic before but never did.

I found a joint also, on the balcony stairway.

The funniest thing I ever found was a sleeping teenager. We've had post-show sleepers before, but this kid was sacked out across 4 seats in the 3rd row from the front, after a midnight show, and couldn't be seen from the back of the auditorium. What made it funny was, he was from Colstrip (35 miles away) and all his friends had left without him! I left him sitting on the bench outside the theatre, cussing at his friends on his cell phone. Good thing I did my usual 'walkaround' after that show!

I've found all the usual beer and liquor bottles, snuck in pop and food, and all that sort of thing. Actually, one of my ushers found an empty bottle of cheap white wine once, which is unusual. The thing that sticks out in my mind the most, though, is something I found while cleaning after the Halloween remake on opening weekend. I picked up from under a seat what looked to be a cardboard courtesy tray full of chili, and was immediately perplexed both at how much "chili" there was, and how warm it still was. Only then did I realize that it was someone's vomit that they had decided to leave under a seat, and I let loose with profanities. Fortunately, the theater had been vacated of customers by this point, but my boss and coworkers were much amused.

Hmmh, the usual of course. Wallets, mittens, money... and the weird thing is how often you find one shoe. I think one rubber boot sat in the box for two years before someone threw it out. One sneaker, one high-heeled shoe... how on earth do you leave one shoe behind??

Just about two weeks ago, someone left a motorcycle helmet. Nobody came to collect it. Helmet, it's a thing you notice missing when you drive the bike from the theater, yes?

Geesh... and I just heard a staff member tell a story I hadn't heard before; a cleaner once found a briefcase full of money and a contract, seems the guy was on his way to buy a house. The money found its owner because the cleaner looked him up and called him, he didn't even come back looking for it himself!

Again, a thing you notice missing when you get to the bank, yes?

I did not find a baggie half full of weed. It could have been a good quarter ounce of more. But if I did find a bag of dope I would have thrown it into the garbage can because that sort of thing is illegal. Isn't it?
