Phil Hill I love my cootie bug Posts: 7595 From: Hollywood, CA USA Registered: Mar 2000 posted 07-11-2003 09:10 PM                  Mash has got to be one of the most stupid and contrived shows that was ever produced. Too predictable and just plain dumb with lame jokes and dull writing. Iron Chef has to be THE most annoying and most lame show on TV only to be beaten by Letterman. Letterman's show lost it's originality and creativity about 20 years ago and is still trying to live in the past....he NEEDS to get some new ideas. Leno is BY FAR the best late-night show...the 1st half-hour. Then it's time to change the channel! Most of the stuff from the South Park crew and their other shows are getting old and boring. BUT! I still love B&B re-runs! They ALWAYS crack me up! Ken: I agree about the oldies of "Sea Hunt" and "Highway Patrol". I liked 'em both! Other re-runs I would love to see aired is Laurel & Hardy and the Three Stooges. Monster House. Sort of a While You Were Out meets Monster Garage (no surprise as TLC and the Discovery Channel are corporate siblings). On one level, it's a good lesson in group dynamics and the value of teamwork. On another level, it's an exercise in home improvement run amok. As I watch the show, I wonder if any of the improvements are to code (some are, as the "1970s House" episode--the second to air, Matthew--featured a heated squabble between the lighted-disco-floor designer, insisting on surface-mount sockets and zip cord because it worked for him before, and a licensed electrician on the crew, who would not allow anything less than boxes and Romex to do things right, and who ultimately prevailed). What makes things rather interesting is that not all the crew members work in the house construction or remodeling trades; also, IMHO, their crew selection process is suspect as, in the "Old West House" episode, they took on a "certified electrician" who turned out not to be an electrician at all. CBS Sunday Morning. I second Mark Lensenmayer's "quiet moment of excellence" comment. I was just to lazy to edit my post . Oh, and how could I forget CRANK YANKERS!. That show just rocks. Has anyone else here seen the bit where they had the retarded kid call a theatre? Box Office Person: (male voice) "Ambassador." 'Special' Kid: "Hey! I want to go to a movie, how much for a ticket." BOP: "Five dollars." SK: "I want to bring to friends, how much for two tickets." BOP: "Ten dollars." SK: "Yeah! I can bring to friends. Hey lady, how much for three tickets." BOP: (sounding frustrated) "Lord doesn't anyone know how to do math anymore? Fifteen dollars." SK: "Hey lady-" BOP: "I ain't a lady." And on and on and on. I used to love that show when it first came on, but then he became rude to guests and didn't let them speak (or, at least that's how it was about 10 or 12 years ago, when I last watched). And that's exactly how I watch Leno. Though I really don't watch a lot of TV. Lately the shows that I have been catching lately. Law and Order- Probably my all time favroite though in the past 5 years or so there is a lot of episodes that I missed and have been unable to catch. A&E had the problem where it seemed that they would show the same 20 episodes over and over again. TNT seem cool for a while but now they are showing 20 different shows over and over again. Though watching the old episodes, is any one else amazed at just how many cast members from the Sopranos have been on this show over the years? Futurama- Been catching these on Cartoon network when I can Family Guy- Same as above. Seinfeld- On multiple channels at multiple times. World Poker Tour- Travel Channel; I started watching this show one night when there wasn't anything else on and got hooked. Really interesting from a human nature standpoint than anything else. My top show Every Star Trek Series: Voyager was definitely my favourite. TNG was just a little too peaceful for me. DS9 last season was king. As is Kirk! Fresh Prince Of Bel Air The best episodes were Sherman Helmsley guest appearances..........I dont think Ive ever laughed harder. 90's Family Sitcoms: Full House, Growing Pains, Family Matters, etc. Cartoons when I was little: Ghostbusters, TMNT, Masters of the Universe, GI Propaganda, Thundercats, etc.  |  IP: Logged Manny Knowles "What are these things and WHY are they BLUE???" "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street" is still my favorite episode. I'm hoping I will eventually find an episode to match that one. Maybe a new thread for your favorite TZ episode!? THE OUTER LIMITS -- I had never seen an episode of this show until I rented several VHS copies from Blockbuster for a college paper. Cheesy, but I fell in love with the show. My favorite episode is "Soldier." Happy to have this series on DVD also. TV on DVD is really the way to go. I'm guessing I will totally dig TiVo when I finally get one. Current shows I'm watching: QUEER AS FOLK on Showtime -- Season 1 (2001) and Season 4 (2004) are terrific. You can safely skip all of Seasons 2 & 3 unless you're a die-hard. SIX FEET UNDER on HBO -- Looking forward to the new season starting this Sunday night. GOOD EATS on Food Network -- I actually sprang for the DVDs for this show, too. This show is both educational and entertaining. If "Bill Nye The Science Guy" would have had a cooking show, this would have been it. BTW, I have tried some of the recipes and they are indeed Good Eats. Shows I enjoyed in the recent past: AMERICAN IDOL on Fox -- This year (2004) was the first time I actually tuned in from the start. I even voted for Fantasia! THE SURREAL LIFE on WB -- Only 6 episodes but my mom and I made this part of our Sunday night ritual. It was fun watching Tammy Faye, Eric Estrada, Rob Van Winkle (aka "Vanilla Ice") and Ron Jeremy interacting with one another. Shows I enjoyed in the not-so-recent past: OZ on HBO -- It's a prison thing. MR. SHOW on HBO -- Short-lived sketch comedy series. Gone, but not forgotten. THE REAL WORLD on MTV -- But, somehow, this show only works for me when they are aired in marathons! TAKEN on Sci-Fi -- This miniseries was epic in scope. The writing was consistently good and I find it amazing that a show of this magnitude had only ONE writer! It was presented by Steven Spielberg. I missed it when it originally aired but I got the DVD for Christmas last year. V: THE MINISERIES on NBC -- Another cool miniseries. Very much like "Independence Day" but without the big-budget visual effects. Instead, this 4 hour miniseries relies on its solid storyline and character development. It spawned a sequel miniseries and a weekly series but the original is superior. LAVERNE & SHIRLEY -- Even though it is a spin-off, I enjoyed this show moreso than "Happy Days." Seems like they had a major physical gag in every episode. Broad humor (pardon the pun). ARE YOU BEING SERVED? -- Consistently funny. Outrageous BBC comedy. THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW -- As long as I'm being honest, I should add this show, too. Debating for DVD: STAR TREK (Original Series) STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON (HBO Miniseries)  |  IP: Logged Paul G.
