Here's the tables on my current DJ rig: On the left is a Technics SL1600, which is very similar to the SL1200, except it is fully automatic (modded to disable part of the automation) and has rotary switches for platter stop-start rather than the big square button. Weighs about the same, too For DJ use I use a Stanton 500AL 'Pro-Disco' cartridge and stylus; at home (This is my home table as well) I use an Empire 3000A/III. The table on the right is a Sony PS-T3 direct-drive table that handles DJ use very well, but has a thermal problem with its speed control circuitry, requiring it to remain running to keep it 'warmed up' and the speed locked.
