Lotsa sites have a "moderators only" forum. This one should have one, too, obviously. There is no reason the moderators shouldn't be able to carry on a conversation without everyone reading it. You know, to discuss Phil and so on.

As for those locked threads that keep getting new posts, I will say that it is sort of annoying if you're trying to keep up on most of the threads, to have to keep going back to a "locked" one to see if it has any new posts.

That "Moderator only" thread is a pain because it appears to be a teaser title that literally almost forces you to click on it, as if it's going to be something humorous or the like. Then when you do, it just appears mean to not be able to read what's posted. So it just winds up pissing some people off, which is "probably" not the point.

Some might say that the title itself should be enough to steer people away from the thread. Well, that won't work...another forum I frequent (where I am a moderator, actually -- and we do have a moderator-only forum) has an ongoing topic called "The Ignore Thread," which on page one says, "Just ignore this thread...it has no meaning" or something to that effect. Last time I looked, it was up to 39 pages long! So much for heeding the title's advice.

Mike! Mike! Mike, my ex-friend! I'm surprised you singled me out for your post. [Big Grin]

But, I agree in general. The moderators do need a "safe" place to discuss things. [fu]

I'm just glad that all that they have to say is visible to me since I have the super-secret password and all is re-routed directly to all of my porno websites for publication. [thumbsup]

I take great pleasure in having the magic decoder ring that allows me to see all their posts in real time. [beer]

Geez... some of you guys really do need to get a life.!

You remind me of my Grandma and the days she wasted, waiting for "General Hospital" to start, just so she could get together at the end of the day with her old-biddie friends and complain about how Doctor So-And-So was doing Nurse Such-And-Such.

Sheeeeeeeesh!

I think the bottom line is that if Brad wants to do something on HIS site then you should do it. He provides this for us FREE. Maybe if you are offended by something send him a check and he may stop doing it! [Big Grin]

I can speak from experience... I live with one of the Mods, and they can be truly eeeevviilll people!! The stuff they do to the posts you guys make is unbelievable... I know... Rachel has some kind of "Mod Toolkit" that you get when you are a mod on this forum. It allows the mods to take posts and annotate then in the Adobe Acrobat kind of process... I have seen Frito-bandito mustaches drawn on people's pictures, posts with comments like "this guy is a doofus, don't ya think?" and other stuff written on them. The extra stuff is only visible if your access level is high enough, but I have seen over Rachel's shoulder... the level of graffitti drawn on the posts here is truly amazing.... I do have to say that Phil looks really interesting with all his teeth blacked out, and Michael's "firestarter" picture looks really cool with the added devil horns and pitchfork.... To let you guys in on a secret... If you go to the mods only posts, right click - and choose - you can see all the secrets that are hiding behind what is on the screen!!!

When Rachel gets home from work she is probably going to beat me for spilling the beans on all this stuff....

Don, now you KNOW you can't just - and see the text! I've tried that already. Although, glancing at the - it appears that the program looks for a - to determine whether it should display the text for you or not. (Could be wrong. I didn't actually read through it) So what you would have to do is find out which - it's looking for and edit it to correspond with the Mod's access level. Or something like that.

I'm just waiting for the "praise the mods" thread. I have never meet any of them so if I were to say that they are power hungry geeks, it would be pure speculation. Not that I would ever speculate like that of course. [Wink]

That's assuming that we're not already praising each other over in the Moderator Only thread. [Big Grin]
