geek v 1. to display an embarrassing amount of happiness. ("She geeked when he asked her out.")

Yes I am happy.

Now, if you called me a nerd, loser, dweeb, goof, dork, or anything of the like - I would agree!

It's a carnival term, invented for a person who does a specific carnival act.

American Heritage Dictionary has the standard meaning, & origin of the word:

quote:

NOUN: Slang 1a. A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy. b. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept. 2. A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.

A geek is a person who makes money with a carnival act by exhibiting himself to folks who will pay money to see who would stand there & bite the head off a live chicken in front of a crowd. They're at the bottom of the carnival social & professional hierarchy. "Geeking" is their professional job description.

It's distasteful, but worth a dollar to see!

Because I talked about this with Brad via e-mail. I made my point. He made his point. We understood each other. We didn't have anything more to say... So, we didn't say anything more.

OK? [Smile]
