I haven't had a TV in 11-months. I moved in to a new house and denied myself TV till the landscaping was done. I tend to get stuck in front of the TV and then I don't move for 6-hours or so. I got 90% of the landscaping done but I have yet to finish the last 10%. I also want a nice HDTV and a good Surround system. As a result of sticker shock, I have yet to purchase anything. This in spite of the fact that the system will be about half the cost of the landscaping. No before you berate me that I'm an idiot to have spent so much on landscaping, know that landscaping increases the value of the home and TV doesn't. Boy could I have had a super system for what I put in to the landscaping. When I was living over at Ky's house, I bought them a satellite system and the PVR to go with it. PVRs like Tivo are the best thing for television since color. It's great to record shows and watch them when you want and skip through commercials. About once per month I sneak in to Ky's house and see whets on the PVR. This year it has been West Wing, Charlie Rose, The L-Word, Inside the Actor's Studio and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I watch West Wing, Actor's Studio and Queer Eye. If on any random night I have worked my way through what's on the recorder, I then skip around channels to see what's on. I have yet to find anything worth watching. So I alternately want a killer video system and then I could care less about it. I guess that is the curse of being a Gemini, I'm of two minds about everything. As a result, I have been reading a great many books; my Father would be proud. What I wish was that I had installed in-wall speakers when the house was being built. I know they don't sound as good, but they would be great for watching TV. And I bet people would think they were cool when I sell the house. I would put in good in-wall speakers of course. While I think about this some more, it’s off to the bookstore to stock up.  |  IP: Logged
