I want to be in the Geek Squad just to sit on my butt for 2 hours and getting paid to click "Next". One question, has anyone worked at a job involving computers, and when a problem arises, the people in charge tell you to get out of what youre doing and get back in. Is that the solution for everything?? It's been sitting off to the side shorn of HD and all cards. Last night I decided to try to power it up one more time. I put the video card in, plugged it in, turned it on and was greeted by a familar "friendly" POST beep. WHAT? Plugged in a monitor and sure enough there is BIOS. I put an HD back in and it was up and running. Added MS networking software compatible with the router and I was online. So whatever seemed to be fried wasn't but if it's some sort of intermittent problem I would presume it will reoccur eventually. Handy, I thought, if you need to fool around with jumpers and cables. But actually now I'm not so sure I like crowding things together with heat buildup. (With the old box inexplicably working again it gets its old HD back; I bought another to be the 2nd drive on the new box.) Also, is there any difference in longevity with drives mounted vertically versus horizontally? I would think horizontal (with disk axis vertical) would be better for the disk bearings and the head actuator would be moving horizontally not having to lift any weight.  |  IP: Logged Mark Gulbrandsen Resident Trollmaster Posts: 16657 From: Music City Registered: Jun 99 posted 10-02-2004 10:22 PM                     I still buy from and reccomend www.ebccomputers.com and..... www.lsmicro.com for all my PC needs.
