If left to sleep, I will sleep around 14 hours, though. Some folks can't sleep with that regular dinging. Some people have tinnitus which for them is very distracting & they cannot sleep without masking sound like fans, surf, radio, etc. (Some folks with tinnitus aren't distracted by it at all, & only find it a handicap because *it* masks intelligibility in hearing others' speech). Some folks are hypervigilant & need masking sound to shut down the process so they can sleep. Im afraid of everything in the world so I HAVE to have everything on at night or there is no way I can go to sleep. My girlfriend can't sleep with out the fan on. So when we started dating 4 years ago I couldn't sleep cause of the fan but now I can't sleep with out the damn thing. Nothing like waking up to 80 degrees and very sweaty sheets.. Even a properly cooled room still gets stagnant air, and the fans help. I have once. I was sick as a dog and I had just started the last movie of the set. It was winter time and the booth was nice and cozy and warm. I curled up on the floor and took a 10 min. nap. Not that I like to admit that, but I did. First and last time. The sounds of the projectors plus the warmth just was too tempting for me. As for average amount of sleep I get in a day.. 9-10 hours. That includes my must have 1 hour nap after I get off of work at 5pm. I was really tired and just laid out on the floor to rest my eyes and fell asleep. I've gone through different stages as far as what I have for sound when I sleep. Until my girlfriend and I moved in together, I would have some sort of music on until I get to sleep but have it on a timer so it doesn't stay on all night. At one point I would also have a ball of light (one of those thing you get at Wal-Mart or a prty store that is basically like a mirror ball but the light shines from the inside and is colorful) hanging on my cieling. Since we moved in, the only white noise in our room at night comes from the computer, which is on all the time. I can sleep either with or without it though. Allison, I can relate to the falling asleep in the booth while you're sick scenario. I was working one night and was barely functional. I had to stick it out because I couldn't get anyone to cover for me. I would thread up my movies and while waiting for them to start, I would lean against the wall or lay on something so I could rest for a minute but kept the booth monitor turned up so I wouldn't fall asleep. We had a digital preshow, so there was a beep that went off when it was time to start the movie. It would go off, I'd start the movie, and move on. I got to the last show which was ready to go ahead of time and started 10 minutes or so after my other last start. There was a table and chair nearby and I actually fell asleep while waiting to start the show. The show started about 10 minutes late when the manager called up and asked if I was going to start it. What the hell kind of topic is this? Even more pathetic is that there are 2 PAGES of responses so far, and there will probably be more! Are y'all afraid that the fan blades will fly off and chop you to pieces as you sleep? What the hell? Nobody cares if you sleep with the fan on or not. Why not start some threads that would be every bit as interesting like "Sleeping when the sun is up", "Sleeping with the furnace on", "How many times do you press the snooze button?" or "How many pieces of toilet paper do you use when you wipe your ass after explosive diarrhea?" After seeing this I want to start a thread called "Sleeping with my head in the oven"!  |  IP: Logged
