I make use of the sleep timer on the tv, so it doesn't stay on all night long. You could put your company logo on it, & program it so that every 2 1/2 hours it makes a noise like it's lost its loop & is stripping sprockets for 15 seconds. I wanted to find an old mantel clock with an hourly strike at a yard sale somewhere to refinish & fix up for a retired projectionist/tech friend of mine - pull out the strike hammer, cam & noisemaker & drive an end of reel bell off the axle. For the noise. She started with a little cigarette air cleaner deal with a muffin fan in it. Then, after that burned up, she went to a room fan on low. Then medium. Then high. Now, years later, she has a larger fan and the damned thing's on high. It's like a wind tunnel in there. Unless it's summer, then the window air conditioner takes its place. Mike, we tried the noise generator. It was one with about 10 different noises on it: sea shore, light rain, wind, etc.. She loved it, but it drove me nuts after about 15 minutes. It got to where I picked out the LOOP POINTS. As soon as that happened, of course, the crossing got louder with each repeat! It was like listening to a Dolby pink noise generator after several minutes, and you hear the repetition: "crOOOSH..crOOOSH..crOOOSH..crOOOSH..crOOOSH..!!!"  |  IP: Logged Phil Hill I love my cootie bug Posts: 7595 From: Hollywood, CA USA Registered: Mar 2000 posted 03-12-2005 12:32 AM                  Several years ago, I lived off a busy street with a lot of traffic noise. It kept me awake and I tried all those white noise generators, wave machines, etc. NONE worked! The I got a DVD called "Thunderstorm" and it was heaven sent! It was a 60 min CD that had rain sounds on the roof coming and going and a few thunder claps every now and then... It was ***THE*** answer to the outside noises. I put it on repeat play and it was great all night! Not only was it great for masking the traffic noise, it was great to listen to while making love! Even for people who are hypnosis-proof, the relaxation routine generally becomes effective enough to eventually just require mentally counting backwards from 5 to go out like a light. Some of the best are actually for pain management, as achieving sleep is one of the main issues addressed. The technique is very useful for people in jobs where you've got to take fast naps.  |  IP: Logged
