Monte,

How do you know if your stagered heads are in proper phase?

So far I have never had a CD or laser disk suffer from rot. Guess I've been lucky on that front.

I finally got everything hooked up and made a test recording using S/W I found on the net. Amazing what DSP can do. All surface noise can be filtered out as well as scratches. The result is not perfect, but the best I think the source material can provide. There is also graphic equalization for those so inclined. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. They were a big help getting me started.
