Then I pointed the camera at an active area of the sky (on a tripod, of course) and kept hitting the shutter until I caught something. I took about 30 pictures. Four had lightning. And I was happy that the sky wasn't completely washed out. It was near sunset and the sky was already rather dark. By the way, the original 8-megapixel version of that photo had some really cool detail! And, speaking of detail, have you checked out www.nasa.gov and the new pictures from the latest Shuttle mission? You can download high-resolution pictures for free. Fun stuff.
