I love how you can see the print damage on the screen and how a good chunk of the credits is already missing. And the splice is out of frame. And they show the countdown on the screen. And the guy seems pleased with himself when he's done. The projector is a Russian CX1000. With so few options for Digital Cinema Appoved projectors you should be "almost" busy worldwide  |  IP: Logged Brad Miller Administrator Posts: 17775 From: Plano, TX (36.2 miles NW of Rockwall) Registered: May 99 posted 04-02-2008 10:34 AM                     Well back in college I was working a venue that had one of the projectors break and there wasn't funding to fix the second projector, so I built a platter out of plywood, masonite decks, inverted ceiling fan motors, some spare rollers, minor electrical circuits and the center ring was a 2000' can. It wasn't sturdy enough to set a splicer on the side of it and punch downward, but it also didn't damage any film from what I could tell. There's a whole other world out there. Although what they're doing goes against everything this forum stands for, I can't help but admire their, uh, ingenuity in dealing with their limited training and the cards they've been dealt. I've watched that video 3 times now and it's very entertaining, in a "that's so wrong but I understand it anyway" kind of way. Maybe their prime directive is "Keep the projector running and something on the screen at all times no matter what!" to them. At least that way, most films could be run with a single intermission, and without destroying the prints. This is why distributors need to inspect prints and charge for damage.
