I'm a Mick and a Kraut by ancestry, also Norwegian and English, but personally I don't give a crap what I am. Although it could explain why I like beer. Other than that, it makes no difference. I'm an American, my parents were born here and so were all of their parents. I figure I'm just as "native American" as anybody else who currently lives here and that includes all of the Indians.

I was listening to Stern the other day
Yeah, I wouldn't recommed using Howard Stern as support for any real discussion. That being said, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton both have long histories of anti-Jew agenda. But remember, according to them, black people can't be racist, only whites.

You are...and so am I. Everyone born here IS Native American. Indians are indians, whether they be American Indians or East Indian. I'm sick of indians claiming they are the only Native Americans here. Anyone else tired of paying for what "our" forefathers did to "their" forefathers? How do we know that indians didn't come from the Alaska area and move down south? How do we know that the indians didnt come up from South America and decide to stay here? By those terms, they aren't native americans either....

I think Indians are more concerned about taking our grandparents money in their casinos than some politically correct term given to them by white corporate America. Whoops, starting a Henderson rant there. [Big Grin]

I haven't read every post, but my personal belief is that words are used in context and part of that context is who is making the comment and what the intent is. And frequently, it even matters whether it's funny or not, even though what's funny is subjective.

While I despise the fact that blacks brought back the word nigger (because it was pretty much dead before they did that), there is a difference when a black uses the word and when a white uses the word, just like there's a difference between someone telling a very disparaging joke about their own ethnic group and telling a similar joke about another. I can't believe that the majority here don't seem to think that context matters.

You can't seriously believe that there isn't a difference if I say to a black coworker, "hey nigger, come here" and if another black coworker said the same thing to him.

It didn't sound to me like Richards meant his comments to be funny. It sounds like he meant his comments to be hurtful in order to get the people to shut up. That doesn't necessarily make him a racist, but it might. In his defense, he apparently did something similar before, but to Jews, even though he's Jewish himself. That would make him obnoxious and unfunny, but not racist.

All comedians have had to deal with hecklers. The good ones learn how to do it with skill and grace. They do it in part, by winning the rest of the audience to their side. Richards apparently hasn't learned that and because he hasn't learned that, he's now going to pay a big price.

If an ethnic swear word is going to be forbidden, it must be forbidden in all cases. If not, then other ethnic swear words must be allowed under the same contextual standards.

Anybody who thinks otherwise is a stupid fucking Polack!

(I'm allowed to say that because my grandfather was Polish.)

The REALLY stupid thing is how overblown this whole thing has gotten. All because of the media and that bottom-scraping TMZ.com website.

Now the two "offended club patrons" are asking for a cash settlement, and Richards' people might sue the person who filmed the episode.....the only people who are going to come out smiling are the lawyers.

I agree 100% there is a difference. The problem is white people are practically the only ones being held to that standard.

It's perfectly okay for any non-white person to make racial insults against white people and even do it on national TV. A lot of the jokes black comedians tell about white people would be deemed hatefully racist if a white comedian told the same kind of joke with the colors reversed.

Yeah, if Whoopi Goldberg and Chris Rock had to take all the white-bashing "humor" out of their acts, they'd each have about 20 minutes of material left.

Hmm. I think the photo indicates he's saying "fuck you, honkey!" Clearly it looks like he's enunciating the sustained "E" sound on the end of "honkey."

What is interesting is that in my experiences Blacks are usually the instigators and then run for cover when they are retaliated against.

When I was in the USAF, I lived in the military barracks at what was Norton AFB, CA (now closed). People of both sexes and of multiple ethnic, religious and political backgrounds all lived in the dorms. The general atmosphere was "live and let live", and there were really no problems.

The exception was the Black community who generally LOVED to instigate trouble with EVERYONE, and when they were eventually retialliated against they would generally run for cover and go crying to the Social Actions office. Here is one example.

We had rules in the dorm about how to conduct yourself...these were basic rules that one would find in any appartment complex. But the Blacks always considered themselves immune to these rules. And if anyone complained or held the Blacks responsible then they would immediately cry "racial discrimination".

It finally came to a climax upon our return from Desert Storm when the Blacks pushed the Southern Good Ole Boys to the limit, and those Good Ole Boys finally let loose on the Blacks by tagging their rooms and property with KKK and Neo Nazi
grafitti.

Now, I served as the Jewish Lay Leader at Norton AFB and helped to calm the situation by arranging a base-wide tour, etc of the Museum of Tolerance in LA.

Ironically, the only anti-Semitism that I experienced while in the USAF was from Blacks. This included one of my First Sergeants, and I finally had the base Chapplin intervene and got this First Shirt straightened out.

One other sickening experience occured when I lived in Israel. While at Yad Vashem, there was a touring group of American kids, mostly Black from what appeared to be inner city America. Talk about disrespectful in the Hall of Rememberance!!! One of them took a skullcap, startted jabbering about what this crap was for, threw it on the ground and started to use it for "break-dancing"!! Yes, THIS REALLY HAPPENED!! There were a few people who confronted this kid, and he attempted to show what a bad-ass gangsta he was!

Bottom line, I am really sick and tired of these double standards that Blacks think they are entitled to. And it is really shameful about how the Black community in general disses on someone like Bill Cosby who has spoken out about what the Black community must do redeem itself.

Simply stated, what Will spoke about is learned behavior since 1964.
