One of the best burritos I tried was from Granny's Burritos, on Fore St in Portland. Alas, they are no longer open.
When I am craving Mexican, I opt for Pancho Villa, on Pleasant St in Brunswick.
Another local spot I heartily enjoy is Fat Boy Drive-In, on Bath Rd in Brunswick. They have excellent frappes, great onion rings, and some of the least expensive lobster rolls around!
Maybe we're a little peculiar up here, but I'd not even heard of most of the chains mentioned earlier in this thread. Or maybe we're just lucky enough to have a lot of great locally owned eateries, so that there's no real need for too many chains to expand this way.
