    Super platter variac voltage reading

I am rewiring a CFS Super Platter. Does anyone know what the voltage should read from the variac when the pin in the yoke is in the holding hole in the tree?
Would this be the target voltage for total operation?

I usually set the variac so that the pull on the film is just enough to hold the carriage at the top position when the projector is threaded and stopped

The top position being at the holding hole?

If you are having wacky things going on have a good look inside the variac case. There can be wear in the slip ring or slip ring contact and in the bushings that hold the whole rotor. Wear in the bushings will make contact issues worse by letting the rotor pull away from the rest of the works. I have seen em where the contact had completely come off and the nub was just barely touching the ring. Still ran sort of but was really erratic. The variac wasn't designed to really deal with loading from weird angles like when used on the platter plus they spend a lot of time in the same area so they just tend to wear.

UPDATE: The voltage that my super platter is happy at is 26V measured at the motor plug and take up dancer is pinned.
