    Odd Film Core

Does anyone happen to know what type of core this is? Am asking for a friend in France who has not been able to find any split reels that will work.
    Thanks!

This is a DIN 47 mm core, a common European standard. It fits our MUTs after removing the KS adapter.

These crappy cores were standard for decades in Europe. Originally made of hard wood, these extruded ones became popular in the mid 1980s.
The system consisted of split reels, which had a red or a blue core. One was a little smaller, than the core, the other a little bigger. Booth operation at incoming film, punch out core, put on red core split reel and rewind to house reel. Outgoing wind from house reel to blue core spool and put in transport carton, put wooden 48 mm core in center.
The spool pictured is for use on a 70 mm projector, 1/2" shaft and extenders on the side.
The Bauer U2 came with split spools for the common lab cores, and had 2 center adapters made of aluminum in sizes as before.
The latest version is the Kinotone platter with adjustable center piece, that fits on a standard rewinder. Same procedure as before, adjust to min diameter for incoming film, to larger for outgoing film.

I have always hated these Euro cores, and my minimum was 3 inch cores, preferred 4 inch ones. IMG20260218210303.jpg IMG20260218210340.jpg IMG20260218210241.jpg IMG20260218210401.jpg IMG20260218210437.jpg
