Linus gets in over his head with some salvage CP2230s.

If you enjoy watching a fish out of water and people learning the via "brute force" or "f*ck around and find out" method....

Don't look now but Linus Media group just picked up two demolition CP2230 kits complete with 3D filter wheel and GDC servers / IMBs.

I'm only a few minutes in and already it's face-palm worthy. We'll see how lucky or unlucky they got over time I presume.

Or maybe it won't be a series...

They seem to have given up on them being worth doing anything with after barely getting one working with tons of optimization issues.

Those Christie techs that were approached to help were probably wise to avoid this one. Anyone here get a call? lol

I was watching this earlier through my fingers. very expensive lessons learned i suppose. a couple of phone calls or even just emails would have saved them a lot of time and money, but the drama is probably what they're after; "diy it and then ask for advice" so to speak.

we still have a couple of those codpiece aprons, but more of the heavy jacket designs.

I liked when they were like, "yeah this thing can do 33,000 lumens," but had no clue what kind of bulb was installed or what circumstances that was under. Very funny. LMG is very good with computer tech for the most part and fun projects like these give them good mileage. I'm not sure any of them could tell you how a silver screen impacts light on the screen. Could have been a fun de-mystifier for the general public. Oh well.

I guess they're doing exactly as you'd expect from a bunch of DCI noobs coming from a PC hardware background. But yeah, that $20k could've bought them some better results if they actually had gathered some information on what they were buying into. Then again, that video would've become just another boring video about some random projector.

Is there nobody here from or around British Columbia or Washington that could help them turning this into something proper, like doing a proper home cinema/screening room that can actually play first-run movies without stealing them from the Internet?
