True...then maybe THEY will buy Universal.

Who knows, there could be some backroom deal going on over text messages right now. I suspect AI is orchestrating the whole thing.

Disney is in no position to buy Universal, at least not without any considerable external help. Disney's last big acquisition is not making any money for them and none of their studios is currently making big profits, as many of their releases have been major financial fiascos. While their streaming made money on paper, many analysts call it a creative way of accounting.

The only thing making real money for Disney right now is their leisure and hospitality devision: Theme parks, resorts and cruises. And even here, they're hurting, as visitor numbers have seen quite a nose-dive in 2025, due to a combination of factors like international boycotts and people seemingly looking for cheaper alternatives.

Meanwhile, all this consolidation isn't going to help anyone, except a few super-rich people. Like Martin indicated, I doubt the Edison's are after the WB media catalog and studio much, they're much more after WB's media assets, like Time Magazine and what was formerly Turner Broadcasting System, including CNN.
