The same thing happened with the bug whereby the projector would freeze up while executing a macro if it had an IMS3000 and an ICP-D in it. It first surfaced in the unreleased 1.9.0 (I received one projector that shipped with it). I was told by Barco that this had been fixed in one of the other 1.9 variants (my memory is now hazy as to which one - maybe 1.9.5): that did reduce the number of incidents, but didn't fix it completely. It wasn't until 1.9.12 that they seem to have squished it totally. My guess would be that the same thing has happened with the airflow sensor monitoring code: they thought they'd got on top of it in 1.9.13, but haven't quite. Maybe the SP2K-9S uses a unique model of sensor, and the issue is in the code that manages it? Steve has not seen the error in an 11S, and I haven't in a bunch of SPxK-B and C projectors, of various different models, that I look after and are running 1.9.13.

Agreed that it would be good to have the airflow/contamination reading feature back. A selling point of these projectors is that they tell you when they need attention, and I've been pointing that out to customers, too.

Barco has just issued 1.9.16 with the following release notes (note, ICP-D hasn't updated since moving to 1.9. I'm also noting that they've pulled all versions of 1.9 prior to 1.9.5:

I'm including release notes from unreleased 1.9.14 and 1.9.15 too, since they are not included in 1.9.16:

      1.1 Version 1.9.16 (Service release)

This version includes the ICMP Software 1.4.4.37, ICP-D software 1.2.1.16 and ICMP-XS (1.3.7)

      Bug Fixes:
      • • Fix an issue where LDM base board is reporting an FW version mismatch warning message.
      • • Fix an issue on Engine serial number detection.
      Limitation:
      • • ICMP-XS: Image is distorted when calling uncorrected test patterns on SP2K projectors. Call an PNG test pattern (e.g.: Framing_uncorrected.png) before to call the uncorrected test patterns to avoid the issue.
      • • ICMP-X: LUT-SCC 2D correction is not supported on SP2K models
      1.2 Version 1.9.15 (Service release)

This version includes the ICMP Software 1.4.4.37, ICP-D software 1.2.1.16 and ICMP-XS (1.3.6)

      Change:
      • Support of ICMP-XS
      Bug Fixes:
      • • Fix an issue on the new CLO sensor configuration with FREYA model
      1.3 Version 1.9.14 (Service release)

This version includes the ICMP Software 1.4.4.37, ICP-D software 1.2.1.16

      Change:
      • Support of new Color Sensor
      • Support of New LDM driver module and LDM Base Board
      • Air Filter detection is now disabled on SP2K-xxS models
      • ICMP: Add a JSON API command for LUT-SCC and other LUT bypassing to prevent that SCC is added when measuring the SCC values
      • ICMP: Improve Dual Projector behavior when positioning close to the end of a CPL in the player timeline
      Bug Fixes:
      • • Fix an issue where Projector color measurement (White Point Target) wasn’t performed correctly
      • • Fix and issue where previous LUT-SCC measurement wasn’t disabled before to measure a new LUT-SCC.
      • • Remove XDX/XDM Projector registration page on Cinema unit

Thanks Steve. It looks like 1.9.14 and .15 were produced, but never released on the website. They are mentioned in the notes:

        image.png

A bit disappointed that they didn't actually fix the SP2K "air filter is not installed correctly" bug, but just worked around it by disabling the airflow sensor. I'd love to know what the problem with these sensors is such that there doesn't appear to be a viable software fix.

Leo...you did see my post above, right? I put 1.9.14 and 1.9.15 in it (and got them from the Release Notes document...hence the section numbers). Mine were a text copy/paste rather than an screen grab.

After updating to 1.9.16, there was an issue where pages wouldn't load properly when accessing DLP on an old iPad used for device control in the projection room.
Strangely, the ICMP web worked fine. The same problem occurred on both Chrome and Safari.
There were no issues on the laptop.

Also, since the iPad They bought last year didn't have any problems, I updated the old iPad to the latest iOS (15 to 18), and it works well now.

              I wasted two precious hours.

I seem to recall from the release notes that one of the recent upgrades changed something to do with HTTPS self-signed certificates, which older browsers and operating systems tend to be OK with, but newer versions not so much. Maybe that was the issue?

I can't make heads or tails of "an PNG" on the note.
Is there a way to pronounce "PNG" in which it starts with a vowel?

Barco 1.9.19 is here but it looks like it primarily addresses the new kid in town...the iCMP-XS as it is going through growing pains. Note, 1.9.18 did address an issue with some SP2K projectors not being recognized.

                      1.1 Version 1.9.19 (Service release)

                      This version includes the ICMP 1.4.4.40, ICP-D 1.2.1.16 and ICMP-XS 1.4.4

                      Change:
                      • • ICMP-XS: Audio received for HDMI and Live IP will now be processed when on internal audio processing
                      • • ICMP-XS: Support of immersive sound playback with Barco APX and Dolby CP950

                      Bug Fixes:
                      • • ICMP-XS: fix an issue where an audio glitch is hearable at the end of the LFE measurement in auto-tuning

                      Limitation:
                      • • ICMP-XS: Image is distorted when calling uncorrected test patterns. Call an PNG test pattern (e.g.: Framing_uncorrected.png) before to call the uncorrected test patterns
                      • • ICMP-X: LUT-SCC 2D correction is not supported on SP2K models

                      1.2 Version 1.9.18 (Service release)

                      This version includes the ICMP 1.4.4.40, ICP-D 1.2.1.16 and ICMP-XS 1.3.8

                      Bug Fixes:

                      Limitation:
                      • • ICMP-XS: Image is distorted when calling uncorrected test patterns. Call an PNG test pattern (e.g.: Framing_uncorrected.png) before to call the uncorrected test patterns

Barco S4 package 1.9.21 has been released. If you aren't using an ICMP-XS, then there doesn't seem to be a reason to bother with this one. No changes were made to the ICP-D or the ICMP-X (and prior) and nothing is listed as being different for the rest of the projector. They did not list 1.9.20 so I suspect it never left the factory and was also just an ICMP-XS related change.

                        Version 1.9.21 (Service release)

                        This version includes the ICMP 1.4.4.40, ICP-D 1.2.1.16 and ICMP-XS 1.4.7

                        Change:
                        • • ICMP-XS: support the usage of the non-reserved Projector CCB GPO in a user cues (Set Up/ Set Down / Pulse)
                        • • ICMP-XS: Support of immersive sound playback with Barco APX and Dolby CP950

                        Bug Fixes:
                        • • ICMP-XS: fix an issue where KDM and SPL can’t be ingest via USB/SMB/NFS sources
                        • • ICMP-XS: fix an issue where the export secure log wasn’t working.
                        • • ICMP-XS: Improve reliability of the Immersive sound playback with CP950

We just received an email from Barco stating that all projectors shipping from now on and that are ordered with an ICMP in them (as distinct from an ICP-D) will ship with an ICMP-XS. I'm guessing that this is because they want to preserve their existing stocks of ICMP-Xs for warranty support.

It's more than that. If you have a Barco S2, they can't use the ICMP-XS so the ICMP-X is Barco's only offering for the very large installed base. Naturally, Dolby and GDC have offerings for the S2 and S4.

It is to be expected that new products will go through this difficult phase as the real-world shows things that were not anticipated. Unfortunately, I think the software updates are showing that we'll all be beta testers for the newer product. I also suspect that as they bring the XS' features on line (audio, IAB and such) there will be more growing pains as each group of features can bring their own gremlins.

Barco S4 1.9.22 has been released. This time both the ICMP/ICMP-X as well as the ICMP-XS are updated. As mentioned previously, I suspect that we'll see a stream of updates as they get the ICMP-XS more and more stable. Note the new Peltier board so this update could apply to any S4...not just ones with a form of ICMP.

                              1.1 Version 1.9.22 (Service release)

                              This version includes the ICMP 1.4.4.41, ICP-D 1.2.1.16 and ICMP-XS 1.4.8

                              Changes:
                              • • Support for new Peltier controller board R73816317
                              • • ICMP-X: Only KDMs with a valid time window are now sent to external OBAE renderers
                              • • ICMP-X: Low battery warning is now persistent
                              Bug Fixes:
                              • • Fixed an intermittent issue where the dowser wasn’t always opening on SP4K-55B
                              • • ICMP-X: Fixed an issue where it was not possible to retrieve secure logs
                              • • ICMP-X: Fixed an issue where it was not possible to pause playout when audio delay was set to -34 ms
                              • • ICMP-XS: Fixed an issue where channel mapping between 5.1 and 7.1 content wasn’t always routed correctly when using the external sound processor
                              • • ICMP-XS: Fixed an issue where default audio routing between internal and external processing was inconsistent
                              • • ICMP-XS: Fixed an intermittent issue where onboard storage wasn’t visible in WebCommunicator
                              • • ICMP-XS: Fixed incorrect paths and invalid returned values in SNMP requests
                              • • ICMP-XS: Fixed an issue where the pulse-down command sent on GPO 1 wasn’t working correctly

                              Limitation:
                              • • ICMP-XS: The image is distorted when calling uncorrected test patterns. This problem affects the following pages: Test Patterns, Color Management / Light Source, and Color Management / Projector Color. o To avoid this issue, call a PNG test pattern (e.g., 2K Barco Enabling Bright Outcomes.png) before calling uncorrected test patterns.
                              • • ICMP-X: LUT-SCC 2D correction is not supported on SP2K models

I suspect the possibility exists that a projector in warranty that currently has an ICMP-X in it could undergo an involuntary upgrade to an XS if the X fails (because Barco will likely want to preserve their existing stocks of Xs for Series 2 projectors, that cannot take an XS - same issue whereby if you want a TI ICP to replace a failed TI ICP, not an ICP-D, you will have to convince Barco that your IMB or IMS will not work with an ICP-D before they'll ship you an old school ICP). Therefore, having the current software bundle version already installed would make the replacement process easier, even if it doesn't contain any new bug fixes or hardware support for your current configuration.
