I think the integrator rod "travelling" is a known issue with some projectors/brands. I didn't know it would affect brightness but it makes sense if it's wildly off: I'd imagine it was focussing the light on a much wider area. That could damage the DMD gaskets I'm told but maybe not on such a small power machine.
