Yes, Paul is the chief projectionist at the Egyptian. And they had fun when the Egyptian held their 70mm film fest late last year. The image from a 30fps 70mm cannot be beat. The most impressive was the showing of the full 7 1/2 hours of War And Peace. Wow. Wow. Ever sit through a 7 1/2 hour movie and not get fatigued from a bad image. Wow.

I take it you were impressed with the 70 mm presentation???

I agree that 70 mm blow-ups from 35 mm are great, and sorely missed. But for the "WOW" factor, nothing today beats 65 mm origination and 70 mm prints. 30 fps is a bonus. Mike Todd had it RIGHT 45 years ago! Bless his soul.

I guess I'm one of those older guys that have seen a lot of different equipment over the years I was the relief projectionist for the local in Philadelphia so I at time had the misfortune to run some UNIQUE equipment!!! The best AA-2s ,Simplex 35,Xl and Century SA Brenkerts were good but the 100 took a lot to drive it because of the size of the intermittent Everthing else works but not as good and for not as long Its the quality vs cost debate again, if the pencil pusher in the office has his way you probably still have to crank it.

Here is another one for all Best and Brightest lamphouse I ran Perrless mod 15's at a drive in and would like to find another pair we ran at 200 amps with no reflector I'll let you think about that one

Hi JOhn,
The Peerless you are refering to are the old condenser arcs. Those are still in high demand for process work. Bill Hansard has a bunch of them and is always looking for more. They were probably the very highest output lamps made but for the Strong Jet Arc.
