Unfortunately that doesn't matter anymore since most movies have a digital master that is outputted to film. But yes, it was damned cool. John, The video camera used a long lens so as to compensate for that issue. Cool they are William -- I leave mine on the machine even though only one works because the other sees only a portion of the screen....the rest is looking at the porthole itself. Problem is, the contrast isn't very good...the internal lenses must be decades old and not the best quality. The one advantage these have (or any other fixed ocular aids) over handheld binoculars is that they give your a rock-steady image whereas with the handheld binoculars, the image is quite jumpy given the magnification I have to use in such a big hall. The only worthless operator that is there is working under a contract but is not a card carrying member (and was written up last summer in the Post for his Superman Screw up...I think it was called: "Look, Up in the Sky, its......Nothing"). What I have heard is that AMC might be dropping it next spring when the lease is up. It's a somewhat common occurrence for a church that lacks a normal worship/assembly place to rent out space in theaters, other churches, schools, etc. It'd be unlikely for them to take the place over like that. Plus, even if they had the cash to buy the place (which they probably don't, otherwise they would've bought space already) they'd likely need money to renovate to their liking as well.  |  IP: Logged
