Mark Gulbrandsen Resident Trollmaster Posts: 16657 From: Music City Registered: Jun 99 posted 05-15-2007 03:19 PM                     While I personally like the SH-1000 alot the Century projector/SH-1000 is far from an optimum combination. Worked for a chain in the 80's that had alot of those setups... The intermediate drive gear coupling the projector to sound head is ALWAYS noisy! I would reccomend getting the Century sound reproducer at the same time from Louis. SH-1000 are great and if you maintain the roller once a weeks or so and really clean it there are no problems with dirt. If I were to replace it I would get a Century to go with the century projector. I really want to learn how to do the A-chain I actually already have an O-scope, came out of our electro-physiology lab at work. It works and is really nice. We have a guy who comes in twice a year to do an A-chain. He charges us several hundred each time. But he told me a few weeks ago that he will charge us much more now. I think he is feeling the gas crunch? I think I can manage without the RTA for now if I have to do a sound head alignment as posted before. when I get pictures of the theater posted here everyone will see what kinds of stuff we have for sound. WE have some really nice stuff and some not so nice stuff. I will show you how to do an A chain. It is impossible to accurately do an A chain without an analyzer since eq and phase cannot be accurately set. Tracking of SR and the matrix phase will be horrible. (Level, eq, and phase all are required to be perfect.)
