Any Tech 3d systems now running in Tulsa, OK or Dallas? I am going to Dallas Tuesday and would not mind stopping and seeing one in use.

Too bad Technicolor doesn't want to do this on its own to promote the process, like Dolby has always done (I've seen lists of Dolby Stereo theatres from as early as 1981). It's also too bad that the nearest equipped venues seem to be at least an hour and a half away from here.

You're welcome, Scott. Additional research may actually reveal an equipped theater located closer to you. Keep checking this thread periodically as I'll be posting updates as new info is obtained.

Great job Michael! One update you need to do is on the 5400 south Taylorsville location. One 3-D screen is Digital and the other is Technicolor. The digital was there first as Technicolor does not allow any other 3-D technology be brought into the booth for the duration of the contract (3-Years) once it is place. So the digital had to be grandfathered in since it came first.

Michael,hope the list fills up. Add our theatre, King Ranger Theatre Seguin, Texas. 9 screens 1 Tech 3-D. Looks great and a lot of happy customers. Great comments on Dragon. Universal Cinema in Dallas did the install. They were doing some others also.

Well, remember, the system is "FREE". You don't pay anything for it (other than installation).

So the understanding in their contract is that, if they "give it to you for free to install in an auditorium", if the film you FREELY are planning on showing on that auditorium is available in Tech 3D (as oppossed to 2D or digital 3D), then you WILL play it in that format on that auditorium and not another format (so that they get to make some money).

So if you want to show it 2D or digital 3D, and there is a Tech3D copy available, you should use a different auditorium.

That's all and it sounds reasonable.

The theatres near me with two or more 3-D screens have at least one digital system in place. All are Reading International/Consolidated theatres. None of Regal's theatres have it in Honolulu and I wonder if they ever will.

The list is interesting but academic outside USA. Technicolor might be saving announcing the system publicly till after the embarassment of the Titans goes away.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the Technicolor brand became valuable again due to the quality control measures on this system?

Regal is obligated to Sony so that is what you will eventually be getting.

The system IS NOT FREE! The charge is 2,000 USD per film booking per lens. Or a maximum cost of 12,000USD per year per lens. If you run more then 6 3-D features a year you can do the math based on the maximum per year fee. The lens lives at the theater and hopefully STAYS IN THE PROJECTOR for the duration of the contract.
