That print was retired because of dye fade and is still used by Neil as a test print today. I've seen some of it and it still looks pretty good but is a bit on the red side of things. I have no idea how many passes they put on your print but its got to be alot since its normally shown 4 to 6 times daily all summer long and one or two shows a day in the off seasons. By now thay probably have had another brand new print struck. The theatre was built JUST to show that film although they do on occasion show others along with it, Lewis and Clark at the moment... and 35mm features which they sometimes run as the last show of the day. I'm not convinced we've got even 2x the light from before -- but alas I don't have numbers from before to compare to. They have alot of work to do on those short gap lamps before I would be selling them. I am also not convinced nor would I be until I measured before and after with the USL meter. I am not as skeptical as I once was, I'm sure there is an increase of some sort, but the claims thay make are no proof of anything. Certified proof by an independent laboratory such as Phil's Lamp testing Laboratory(or is it Cootbratory Lamp Testing?) is something that I might believe..... I have yet to see that though and I think they are reluctant to do that because they also are very indefinate about anything...... Mark  |  IP: Logged Daryl C. W. I'm sure I'll have to nag to change the lamps out. It's a good thing the mirrors are metal, or wait, no they're not. I'm really tempted to either "convert back" (and get some numbers) or setup identical equipment with stock parts side by side. You might want to check with management at the theater - I know they have a subscription. All the rest of the sound system seemed just great, especially the low frequency stuff. But there was definitely something wrong with the channel from which the dialog was coming. Very disappointing. I should also say something about the fact that, at this time, all seats in the IMAX theatre are reserved seats. Is that really necessary for a Tuesday morning matinee? As far as I could tell, it merely slowed down my visit to the box office where I not only bought tickets but had to stop and select seats when the cashier turned his computer screen half-way towards me. Now, I could have selected my seats online before going to the theatre but then I'd have to pay the online ticket surcharge. No, thanks. Also, I feel that the reserved seating policy encourages people to come to the theatre very late. When it was time for the movie to start there were lots of folks just wandering in, asking the usher (who carried a flashlight) to direct them to their seats. If it had been first-come-first-serve on seating I'm sure those people would have come earlier. Hard to believe they went that route in this day and age. There's nothing more fun that watching the cattle being held back at the gates and then the ropes are let down and the mad dash for the seats begins...... Donno about the distorted sound there.... but that is also somewhat surprising. Makes me think Imax is letting things slip somewhat by attempting to train those that just don't know......
