Does distribution get more due to the extra charge for 3D and LIEMAX auditoriums?

So its ok to pay a premium for a 3D experience, but not ok to pay extra for a large-screen experience?
Why? Drive-ins offered 100+ foot screens for 60 years. Now, they're more or less a novelty. Why should people be so impressed with 70 feet indoors?

A big screen on its own does not impress me one bit. Throw an image on there featuring proper brightness and sharp detail at that scale and I might be impressed.

4/35mm and 2K D-cinema don't have what it takes to work well on giant sized screens. It's like buying a monster truck and putting a dinky 4 cylinder econo box car engine under the hood. 70mm is the only thing that really gets the job done on giant sized screens.

All I'm saying is that I don't mind paying extra for a premium experience, if it is in fact better than a normal presentation. I'll fork out a couple extra dollars for XD or film-based IMAX in an authentic IMAX auditorium. DFW is full of LIMAX's, yet I'll only go to the ones that are legit. For the same reason I'll pay a lot more for a porterhouse at del Frisco's than a sirloin at roadhouse.
