Also, not every seat in any given auditorium is equal. AT a baseball game its the same, I may pay 15$ for a seat and sit in front of a pillar, wheras $15 might get you a decent seat. If you average them, they are pretty equal. Baseball is boring and only people who have had a lobotomy would pay to be "entertained" by such a long and mostly uneventful game (only soccer is less eventful). That's like buying tickets to watch the grass grow. I agree with Scott. It makes it seem like there is something substandard or wrong with the other screens. The bigger RPX or whatever it is called isn't anything people haven't seen before, guaranteed. They have seen it before, and for a lower price than non-RPX tickets are going for these days. Knowing Regal, I doubt the sound is very good. They like to use shitty Klipsh speakers. Regal isn't too bright when it comes to equipping an auditorium. If it is being received well, that is only because Regal's customers are fucking retarded. They lack the higher brain functions necessary to choose a better chain. Then they go home and wonder why they are in debt. I would think a chain would want to be known for great presentations, comfortable seating and awesome sound for EVERYBODY across the board, at each location and in each auditorium. That way people would think "Hmmmm, Chain X always has great seats, sound and picture no matter what. Let's choose them over Chain Y." Instead, it is "Chain X is mediocre except for their special auditoriums for which they add a surcharge, but Chain Y is good all around without the lame surcharge. Let's go to chain Y!" And it's cool. You defend the business practices of your employer, as long as it's not something like clubbing baby seals. Regal's not clubbing baby seals, are they? Regardless, this RPX thing is nothing but a money grab. But then again, it really is nothing but clever marketing. But clever is only one side of the coin -- long-term customer disillusionment is the other. Now the thing that a smart competitor should do put out statements like: "We offer our patrons a Premium Presentation on our large curved Panorama Silver Screen and state-of-the-art Ultra Fidelity 7.1 Surround Sound, but we won't charge an extra penny for it, because we have always believed that at XYZ Theatres, our patrons deserve the highest quality in picture, sound, comfort and customer service." I'd have signs posted at every theatre entrance - "XYZ Theatres -- Premium Presentation without a Premium Price" Make Regal look like rip-off fools. Ayakawa Film God Posts: 2738 From: Waipahu, Hawaii, USA Registered: Aug 2002 posted 06-03-2010 05:19 PM                        Frank, It will be very nice if all theatres would offer their patrons noting but the best when it comes to service and presentation and not charge extra but I have my doubt about Consolidated Theatres here in Honolulu absolving the added cost for the privilege of seeing a movie in the auditorium at their Ward 16 plex with their new Titan Extreme Cnema system. After reading more about the 'Titan" system at the Reading International website, it sounds like it will be a considerable investment and I cannot see how Consolidated will charge the same as Regal with their fake IMAX at the Dole Cannery especially when Ward will offer reserved seating. Wow, what a joke! (Got a pass for a free screening, then snuck into the RPX auditorium after that, nobody was watching the door! ) It originally had a proper side-masked screen but has been replaced with a common-width one with no masking, and looks more suited for a sports bar than a movie theater. 2.35 movie looked smaller than it did on the older screen. Movie playing wasn't mixed in Dolby Atmos so didn't get to hear how great that is.
