I believe the Dolby color wheel use dichoric filters, which means they shouldn't fade at all.

And I'm amazed anyone would actually try to clean a MI disk while it's running... I found them quite disturbing to even stand near while running at full speed.

A final note on this incident. Richard from Master Image came to my shop today and installed a brand new top end on the unit. All is now well with it and we plan to put the unit back into service at a new digital location for Tron. We also concluded that there were still brand new old style filter wheels at the old location the disk blew up at and that one of those was installed on this unit for what ever reason and then it ultimately exploded. There was still another brand new old style filter wheel in the package along with a new style green labeled filter wheel that I grabbed when I took the unit up here to Salt Lake City. At any rate those working at the location damaged a wheel and installed one of the new but old style filter wheels. The extra old style was broken up and discarded.
