Cinemark Movies 14, Mishawaka, IN Auditorium 12, Dolby Digital Presentation:
The above denotes when I saw it in 35mm. The presentation was stellar, and typical #12 performance.
I liked this movie, alot. In fact, I think it's kind of brilliant. I was very very worried we'd get a bunch of horribly casted wannabes, but instead we got a cast that had to fill some big shoes on the Enterprise. They succeeded admirably.
Sure, some die hard fans don't like the possible erasure of 40 years of history, but you can always go back and watch the DVDs.
Special note on presentation. 35mm was great. Saw the IMAX Experience in Portage, IN's Goodrich IMAX. Image was great, for a DMRd movie. Sound was a little wanting. I saw the Dark Knight there last year and the sound was vastly superior.
I also saw this in DLP at Cinemark in Mishawaka, house number 1. This was their first digital presentation, and the image was excellent. For such a large screen (I'd guess 50'+?) it was bright, crisp, and the best I've seen 1 look. Heck, it replaced a CFS lamphouse. How could it NOT be better?
The audio was a different story. The subs were working overtime, which was nice to hear in this house once again. However, the center channel was distorting often, the right channel was non-existent, and there was a nice, loud, ground loopish hum.
I made sure to let the management know. Things are being fixed I've been told. That's great, but how did the techs that did this install miss these issues before they left?
Welcome to !
