Easy to fill, customers like them better, and much less fiddleing around for the concession staff to deal with. We use the bags because they are recyclable. We have a 170 oz tub (called the "Damn Huge") which people love to order -- and they do. I'm not sure if this is in all areas, but the 170 tubs i used can be recycled in the single layer cardboard bins. Anyways, i am gonna be sacreligious and say that THEATERS SHOUDLNT SELL POPCORN!!! lol!!! Ok, so i used to love popcorn, especially at the movies, but work with smelling it everyday and you get sick of it...cuz of it, now i cant stand to eat popcorn. Funny thing is, you just keep eating the stuff. Also, it is rumored we are getting a cappuccino machine. Does anyone have one? In fact, West Acres Cinema (dubbed waisted acres by our staff) does sell cappuchino. the milk base of the drink mix is only good for 7 days after it is opened, but it isnt uncommon to find a bag that is over 3 or 4 weeks old. Like everyone, we fight leaky bags and have people complain. But tubs are so much more expensive and would take up priceless real estate on our too-small counter. So... what do you use? Why? Can anyone tell me about switching and which was better? EDIT: "It has been 3638 days since the last post." That's just freaky.  |  IP: Logged Monte L Fullmer Film God Posts: 8367 From: Nampa, Idaho, USA Registered: Nov 2004 posted 08-05-2011 08:54 PM                     (Ya, a 10yr old thread ....must be a record for a revival on here ... sysops are gonna have fun with this one) 170oz tubs are mainly for looks to go along with a 44 or 52 oz cup to push a large combo with refills, being the best value for the dollar to the patron... You put a tub next to a bag that same size by a jumbo drink and which one is saying "Please buy me for the best value!" Tubs are more sturdy to handle than 170 oz bags that looks like grocery sacks being that big. Plus, you weight a bag down with all of that vegetable grease and it's prone to rip when grabbed by one hand on the side. Tubs can be taken home and gets reused by the kids... Also, it's a cinema's largest markup item .. which also makes the most money in the snakbar and keeps the per cap up at a level so the mgr can keep his DM off his back when he's training and making sure that the staff knows on how to upsell and suggestive sell ... so the popcorn shovelers can keep your JOB!
