Sure, William, always happy to give tours. Might even be able to come up with a FR Joe cel as a souvenir. Actually, though, our shop is not quite as interesting tourwise as it used to be, since we rarely do cel animation anymore (sadly, nobody seems to want it)and that is what people always liked to watch in progress, along with the cool Oxberry animation stand going thru it's motion control passes. Now it's just a bunch of computers (yawn). To answer your question about Cinemark, they decided a couple of years ago cartoon characters were not "corporate" enough for a big league circuit wanting to go public (in my opinion, though, I always thought the characters lent themselves much better to international recognition than a generic-looking graphics trailer). That coupled with the fact that they had done several FRJoe trailers and I think the novelty of producing a cartoon trailer just wore off (to be honest, we had a hard time coming up with something new for Joe to do or sing about after the first 3 or 4). Occasionally I look at them on a demo reel and think they still hold up well, and we always had kind of a "Rocky Horror" thing going after they ran awhile and people learned the words. We tried to make them complex enough to where you could see them for a year or two and not get too tired of them.
Joe, to answer your question, we did not do the Mann trailer. I have no idea who did (Cinema Concepts?). Music has always been a big thing with me as far as our custom trailers. We almost always do custom music production and sound effects and do the digital mix at either Todd-AO or Deluxe Toronto. We used to use Skywalker Sound before they got too big to want to work on our stuff. Some of our trailers we did there (including the first 2 FRJoe trailers) used some sound effects that they had stored from the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies. By the way, the WillmingReams.com website is kind of a throwaway generic site for our company. For theatre stuff, go to www.WRonyourscreens.com

Thanks Doug, I will probably be in San Antonio Thursday or Friday photographing Theatres for Cinema Tour to add to their Website. I will send you an e mail when I know for sure which one it will be to schedule a time. as to Mann Theatres Cinema Concepts did do thier trailers at least the Old ones that had the Mann logo with the big M that wrapped around the rest of the letter's and had a black background with stars and streaking red lines that danced around inthe center of the screen behind the logo. There were actuall two version of this trailer. One for mono theatres and one for stereo. The mono one had a voice that said "Mann Theatres the ultimate place to be for quality entertainment" The stereo version had just music that had a good Low Frequency track in it. at towrds the end of the snipe the letters In Stereo were speeled out under the feature presntation letters. As the letters were being spelled out there was a nice wind sound going through the surround speakers. My personal favorite I have on my ring of trailers now is the Santikos Theatre trailer your company produced featuring Sid and Velma. It had all the advertisments for KTFM, San Antonio Star, and KENS TV into. Sound on the trailer was booming. Love it.

I would love to see the Britney Spears commercial as a Pepsi policy trailer. Our theatre is in a college town, so we would probably have to set aside one of our houses to allow a loop of the Britney commercial to run. We could charge by the hour! LOL

Well, it is official. Regal is going back to the roller coaster policy trailer. However, from what I understand, it has been modified. No word yet on was changed, but we will find out soon...

We just last week got in our new policy trailers. They very similar to the original roller coaster ones, but the candies have replaced with ones that we actually have and the cup and bag logos have been updated to match what we have. To top things off, minor graphics have been updated as well, giving it a much more polished look than before. It is still not perfect, but I like it.

Yes, I've seen it twice now and I even put a note on my last comment card saying how nice it was to see it again. It does not irritate, it does not get one one's nerves, and it doesn't really get old. I use it judge the framing correctness for flat films when I rate presentations. Of course, the new style of letterboxing scope movies for flat trailers makes any framing errors painfully obvious as well.

I think a great addition to the new (old) trailer would be to have Pepsi Girl tied to the tracks somewhere along the way!

Colonnade? Sounds like an enema sports drink. No offense, Chris.

I work for Regal as well. Since '98.
The new trailer is also in Dolby Digital rather than just SR like the original.

At the Green Hills 16 in Nashville,Tn, we actually had protests against the Pepsi Girl. One newspaper claimed that it caused the downfall of Regal's unsuccessful Funscape chain.

I think saying that the Pepsi Girl trailer being the cause of the downfall of the Funscape locations is pushing it. Personally, I don't see how the Pepsi Girl trailer would affect Funscape locations at all, unless it were played in a continuous loop on TVs in there. The Pepsi Girl trailer may have caused an increaed number of negative comment cards or maybe a slight increase in the homicide rate in the USA , but I doubt it affected much else other than being a temporary annoyance before each movie.

Jody, you should hear what the other Vegas Regals call us. We are constantly riddled with Colonass day in and day out...but hey, I live in Vegas because of this theatre.

The "Cinemark - The Best Seat In Town" Image Trailer plays in all 3 digital formats (DTS/SRD/SDDS). Do most policy/logo trailers play in digital? I've noticed the last few Coke (with the exception of the current Refreshing Filmmaker) and Technicolor ads have had SRD on them as well.

Do Coke/Pepsi have a special division of reps who service theatres, or would I simply ask my local rep (who services grocers, convenience stores and theatres????) about getting my hands on some of these trailers? They must make tens of thousands of these trailers.....

We have been making policy trailers with digital sound for years. The current trailers for Carmike and Wallace have all 3 digital formats. Our generic trailers that are customizable have SRD and SDDS - we don't even try to do DTS for those, since we cannot control what DTS chooses to put on their disks. I've noticed that a lot of older trailers that are advertised as "digital" are simply encoded in the digital format without bothering to remix for 6 tracks, so in a lot of cases they probably don't sound much different from a Dolby Stereo track.

Dave - all Coke ads are sent to us through Screenvision. You can contact them at 1-800-AD-FILMS.

The General Cinema Pepsi/Candy Band trailers are gone. (I remember one guy on this forum was collecting these, so whoever you are, be aware) GCC switched to Coke so now they have sliced the trailers to edit out any trace of dancing Pepsi's. (At least at my nearest one. I do not work for them but assume this is policy) Maybe Coke can pay for a new trailer for them. The fuuny thing is they have replaced the screen ads, popcorn bags, EVERY mention of Pepsi at this theatre is erased. Yet when I get up to leave, I notice each armrest in the 500-seat theatre still has a Pepsi logo on them. They must have missed that one.

I had the pleasure of encountering the Pepsi Girl on her opening weekend (6/25/2K).

For Gone In 60 Seconds a Regal theater in New Jersey ran regular trailers, the Pepsi Girl, the attached trailer (Coyote Ugly), the original "rollercoaster" policy, then FINALLY the feature.
