Babbidge Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 709 From: Bowdoin, Maine Registered: Aug 2000 posted 06-26-2004 11:30 AM                        The biggest problem we've had is that the running time is about 10 minutes longer than we'd been told, making the scheduling very cramped as far as turn-around time. At one point yesterday, when I was waiting to get into the auditorium to clean, and the credits had finished rolling, I had to shoo some people out, as we had a sold out sized crowd waiting to get it, and the showtime was supposed to be in five minutes! The word for the day: chaos. Apparently this is playing on only three screens in Maine.  |  IP: Logged Brandon Willis Expert Film Handler Posts: 216 From: Richmond, VA, USA Registered: Apr 2004 posted 06-26-2004 01:09 PM                     In Richmond/Hampton Roads VA, it is playing at: Regal Westhampton 2 (Richmond) Regal MacArthur Center 18 (Norfolk) AMC Lynhaven 18 (VA Beach) AMC Hampton 24 (Hampton) Haven't heard of anybody getting extra security for it, although the GM of Westhampton is out of town this weekend so one of the assistants from my theatre is over there helping out their only assistant. We haven't really gotten any comments or phone calls about it where I work, because my theatre caters to much more of a "You Got Served" type of audience. And as far as I know, there have been no reports of people picketing the theatres around here or anything like that. Pretty boring opening weekend for such a controversial film here in RVA. The Westhampton is busier than I've ever seen it, as they are opening F9/11 on one screen and continuing their run of "Saved" on the other. Just lots of people, lots of concessions sales, lots of coverage. Not wanting to turn this into a review, I'll just say that I am Right Wing and I blurted out a few things, namely boos, during the film. This was the first time I was called a dildo by anyone after seeing a movie. I was approached by another guy and was asked if I had ever enlisted, which I had. He shut up after that. This is even after telling him that my sister theatre about 1.5 miles away is playing it. I was called a censoring bastard as well by someone else. Dennis had it right..IT'S JUST A F'N MOVIE! What the hell is wrong with these idiots. I think I need security for not having the damn thing at my theatre. I could sure use the business but not the drama. Post script It is damn good thing that there is not a politcal thread anymore because I may have to ape on liberals and conservatives. Everyone crowded into the lobby and the doors to the auditorium were opened just in time to prevent bruised ribs. But the people were in a happy mood. I asked the manager if she intended opening a third screen for the film (there were only two patrons for "The Mother", while F 9/11 sold out both screens.)She said no.
