Brad et all:

As employee incentives I used to trade comps with the two OCB's in Central New York, well until my employees refused to even take the passes any more and would not even tell me why... So one day an assistant and myself stoped down for some good old plate fillin grubbin and before we even got up to leave I realized why - thank God I have the mall theater managers best friend with me at all times - Imodium A-D.

I will definately look for a Woody's BBQ. How far North do they go? I don't usually go further South than South Carolina and maybe Georgia. (Although GA is further West.)

I have, on one occasion, gone to a W.H. and sat down to eat and took one look and thought, "Eeeeewwwww!" Since the waitress had already come over to take my order I just ordered coffee, paid my tab and got back on the road. Really, the main thing I wanted was to use the restroom anyway. (Which is another story all together! )

And one other thing John P. Every time I am even within a half hour of a Nick Tahou's "garbage plate" I start to druel (sp?) like I was watching 70mm again for the first time... now if they were still open twenty-four hours I would just jump in my car hmmm... If I tack another twenty five m.p.h. onto I-90s speed limit I could be there in less than an hour...

I'm not sure how far north Woody's BBQ goes. I'll see if I can find out in the next few days and post it here. Woodys does use some sort of seasoning/marinade prior to cooking. The menu says the meat is supposed to be pink, even though it is completely done. Whatever it is, it works, and just improves the flavor, rather than overpowering it.

Yeah, we lost our WH on Commercial Blvd to a bad staff. For the longest time it was the furthest south WH. We went there a couple of weeks ago and were grossed out. Fortunately, a few others have opened in the area.

The shouting match across the room is indeed their policy. Its allot of fun to go into one when its busy. Very noisy place.

Oh, I think it's entertaining when they shout. I just wondered about it, that's all.

Now, if the cook's name was something like "Earl" that would top it all off!

In Austin There is Dan's Hamburgers They have several locations Usually in old A&W Rootbeer stands.

Aaron, Who are you servicing in San Antonio? You should try the Alamo Cafe when you are there. There is one on San Pedro close to the Airport there.

Nobody (yet)

I have been to SA several times while associated with Air Force Entertainment TOPS IN BLUE http://www.tibpriors.org which is based out of Lackland AFB. (and the obligatory 6 month stint at Lackland we all go thru when we join up, of course, but I didnt get a lot of time off-base then hehehe)

Last time I was in SA was over the 4th of July 1998 for the 45th Anniversary Reunion of TIB

When in New York it will be time to treat yourself. It's time to wear a Jacket. Put away your tools, take the wife or the Girlfriend. Hop in a cab and say "Daniel's" please. Sixty Fifth right off Park Ave. The drinks are good but the food is superb, it is the best meal on the Planet Earth. You would have to travel to another world for a better meal. Oh, yes bring lots of money and don't plan on having any left when you leave. But you will forever remember your meal.

Speaking of "shouting matches" at Waffle House", I used to work at the "Hooter's" @ Fountain Square in Nashville (next door to the now defunct AMC 14) during my college days.
Not only would our waitresses "shout" their ordrers to us cooks behind the bar, they would "sling" the paper copy by several wires that were strung from the dining room to the kicthen.

Our kitchen staff would sing and dance to our favorite medley of "2 Live Crew" tunes as we prepared the food and wings. It was defintely a "different" place to work.

Oh... and all the things people say about those "Hooter's waitresses... all of it was true!!

I thought flinging the orders across the room by wire was rather funky.

I like the stickers and junk they put up on the range hood. I always thought there would be SOME place at Hooters where you could stick one of those stickers that comes in the box with Christie lamps: "This bulb will explode if dropped".

Doesn't take too much effort to think of a couple of places for that one!

Ahhhhh... Speaking of BBQ!

Anyone here use Texas Pete? You should... It's GREAT STUFF! And you are aware that most of these BBQ places use it in their meals anyway... =)

There's a brand of hot sauce down here called, "Kick Yo' Ass". Let's just say the name is pretty accurate.

I also have had a brand called "Inner Beauty". On the back of the bottle it says, "Keep away from children, pets and bad advice".

Much as I like "Texas Pete" I must say that when it comes to good ol' fashioned hot sauces, "Tabasco" is at the top of the heap. It's not the hottest thing out there but, IMHO, it's got just the right combination of flavor and heat.

In all the discussion nobody seems to have mentioned Kentucky Fried Chicken. How big are they in the USA as there seems to be one around every corner here in Australia? The other franchaise that is big in Australia is Hungry Jacks (Burger King in the USA. McDonalds are around everywhere, Townsville in North Queensland has 5 with a population of approximately 140,000. I like the steaks from Sizzlers but their prices have skyrocketed recently and this makes the local clubs far more attractive in recent times.

KFC is pretty much everywhere. Years ago I shook the colonel's hand. He was in his 80's then. I think he passed away a couple of years later.
