I was born in The Bahamas when they were still a colony, but my mom is a U.S. Citizen and so am I. I do drink tea, but I never figured out what a crumpet is. We all thought she ment someone that played a brass instrument. WOAH!! My sister bought a new flat screen from BB, and they tried to all but tell her that the set would fail without the extended warranty. The best way to deal with that annoying push for an extended warrentee: when the little snot throws the pitch at and you say "no thank you," but then he presses for the second time, you act like he's giving you special insider information, get close to him, look around as if making sure no one is listening and say, "Really dude, you think it's going to crap out on me? Wow, thanks for the heads-up; that's the first time a salesman has ever been that honest with me." Then turn around and walk away as you hear him studdering and calling after you. He'll be thinking about what he did to loose the sale for the next week. They don't have the contract at the register (just a pamphlet with highlights). Basically you are buying a warranty without knowing what it actually is. A long time ago my wife (girlfriend at the time) bought me a pretty high end computer monitor (a 19" CRT) at Best Buy and got the warranty. 2 1/2 years later it died. When I took it in to get repaired they said it couldn't be fixed but I could get another monitor of the same value. By then, best buy didn't carry anything close to the quality of what I had. I ended up buying the most expensive LCD (which was new tech) even though it was small and selling it and using the proceeds to buy a high quality CRT somewhere else.  |  IP: Logged Daniel Headrick Film Handler Posts: 4 From: Tulsa, OK, United States Registered: Oct 2012 posted 11-03-2012 05:06 PM                     I refuse to do business with Best Buy after a nasty experience purchasing a turntable back in the 90s. They are one of the sleaziest businesses I've ever come across. As the previous reply poster indicated, they don't typically have anything more than a brochure with highlights when it comes to extended warrantees. A close friend of mine would purchase extended warrantees on practically anything, until once I simply wouldn't let him pick one up for his iPod nano. But this is the same person who took me years to convince him to leave AOL, and to switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox. And yet somehow, he's my best friend.  |  IP: Logged
