Author Topic: Opera 6 Kick's A$$ Oscar Neundorfer Master Film Handler Posts: 275 From: Senoia, GA Registered: May 2000 posted 01-24-2002 10:01 AM                        Just downloaded Opera 6.0, and after 5 minutes of use, it is now my browser of choice!! And I have had practically NO time to begin to "explore" all its features. Unless I find some glaring problem, I will not be using Navigator or Explorer again. Don't really KNOW if it is faster, but it sure as heck seems like it. Installation was a snap and I did not even have to re-start windows as so many installs make you do. It was running within a few minutes of starting the install. Does the "New Posts" feature work for you with Opera? If not, that might be one of the few things I miss from the other browsers, but it's a really little thing. Opera 6.03 on the MAC is my problem...I'm running OS 9.2 on an iMac DV SE and when posting to the forums here on FT...it does not post any Line-Feeds so all of my paragraphs look jammed together. As such, I'm back to IE for the Mac for the moment. Any suggestions? Every once in a great while, I find one page that won't render correctly, or one company with an idiot web designer who insists that I use IE, or I can't get in to their site. But other than that, Firebird works like a champ. Flash, Java, etc all work fine for me.  |  IP: Logged David M. Go the the Opera Mac forum. The download is listed there. One tip...it will open with a new panel which shows bookmarks, history, etc. links. Just hit F4 to get to the display as you see on 6.03. Why am I supposed to be happy? Actually, I got tired of IE getting screwed up. The last straw was a display problem that made certain lines of text on certain webpages appear really bold and darned near unreadable. None of that crap with Opera. I've got it pretty well layed out like I like it, and NO popups have made it through. The only drawback is, the dropdown menu items on my employer's website don't work with it (they might, if it's something I just need to switch on... still learning) but hey, a lot of that stuff is probably what makes IE vulnerable to begin with, so I'm not complaining.  |  IP: Logged Brad Miller Administrator Posts: 17775 From: Plano, TX (36.2 miles NW of Rockwall) Registered: May 99 posted 09-24-2004 01:33 PM                     Steve, Opera 6 works fine and dandy on OSX. Tim, I've found if a website works on Opera, it will work on 99.9% of all browsers, so in my opinion ALL websites should be tested with it. Once you start using the BACK/FORWARD mouse gestures, you won't be able to use another browser.  |  IP: Logged
