The reference carbonated beverage is a Coke. The usage is always: "You want a Coke or something?" As Dick points out, it's carbonated water with a slightly salty aftertaste, usually used as a mixer with blended whiskies. I like it on its own, because it's about the only fizzy soft drink you can get (apart from poncy mineral water, which is a ripoff) that does not contain vast amounts of sugar, caffeine or quinine. She didn't! I'd always wondered why so many characters drink 'soda' in Hollywood films, but had never guessed that it was a generic term meaning 'carbonated soft drink'.  |  IP: Logged
