Author Topic: Senator Theatre to Run 70mm Lawrence!!! Jonathan M. Crist Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 531 From: Hershey, PA, USA Registered: Apr 2000 posted 10-03-2002 12:28 AM                     Got to see the 70MM LOA in DTS at the Senator at last night's final screening. The print is absolutely stunning. One curious item: Although the Senator has a second DTS reader and player unit for the 70MM DTS backup, Columbia refused to send them a second set of discs. Luckily everything worked fine. I was told that the Senator's print of LOA is not currently scheduled to go anywhere in the immediate future and will probably sit there at the Senator for awhile. He was in the theatre to see the film and they had scratched two reels. And on another show they started the show with the film flopped. I know this is probably breaking some law or two, but it would give you a back-up disc, and its no use to anyone, but cinemas to play a film with DTS sound. ???? All of the info you need to troubleshoot it is right there on the upload instruction page. You just need to actually read it without assuming you know how to do it and then fix your post. I cannot keep going back and fixing everyone's mistakes. What is especially aggravating to me on this one is that you went back a few minutes later and posted another reply (this is a no no, read the FAQ) and yet somehow failed to notice your image link was not done properly on the first post.  |  IP: Logged Steve Kraus Film God Posts: 4094 From: Chicago, IL, USA Registered: May 2000 posted 10-06-2002 05:07 PM                    It's highly unlikely that DTS is going to mind actions taken that increase their reliability especially in a situation where there is no other backup and a failure will damage their reputation. I am not sure, but I don`t think it would be illegal here. After all, it is the content that you are renting, the disc is only the medium. A print with dts timecode but no disc is not complete.  |  IP: Logged
